REYKJAVIK, ICELAND, EUROPE, du au
Type : ENVI (Environnement), STUDY(à thèmes), AGRI (travaux agricoles), ART
Travail : The organization has a farmhouse on the outskirts of Reykjavik, 15 km from the center of the capital. Since the creation of Worldwide Friends, the organization has been looking an opportunity to set up a project that aims to promote sustainable living. Volunteers will do some renovating in the house and on the property, and take care of the work in the farm. We have few chickens, a cat, a greenhouse for growing herbs and vegetables and a piece of land where we grow potatoes, carrots and lettuce. All the vegetables grown in the farm are consumed by the volunteers living in the farm.
Volunteers will help with all tasks related to the farm, as the work varies depending on the season.

This year we will also have special topics to discuss in the workcamps. Volunteers will do some researches and share the knowledge related to the topics.
A Sustainable Living is a good, useful and practical way to learn and use actions which reduce your environmental footprint. It gives you better living skills for a healthier lifestyle and a new approach to make better consumer choices. The main topics that we will explore are: growing food in your home, smart food shopping, food wasting, recycling, eco-building design, water efficiency, avoiding toxic chemicals and lower-carbon transport options.

ESKIFJORDUR, ICELAND, EUROPE, du au
Type : RENO (Restauration), ENVI (Environnement), MANU (travail manuel)
Travail : In this camp there are two different types of work - renovation and environmental tasks.
The volunteers will do environmental work in different areas in Fjardabyggd, for example cleaning the coastline, planting trees, taking down old fences or fixing hiking paths. They will also help locals beautify the villages after the winter time.
In addition, we will renovate, paint, clean and repair things in the WF houses and the surrounding area in Eskifjörur.
The main house in Eskifjörur used to be the village school. It is more than 100 years old. In the last years, hundreds of international volunteers have spent time in that house. The second house in the same village is a harbor house, which used to be a workstation for fishermen in the old days. Last winter the house got damaged by strong winds and needs to be repaired. The plan is to rebuild the house and use it in the organization.

This work camp gives you the opportunity to spend an amazing time in Iceland with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while exploring creativity, environmental issues and intercultural learning.
Our work will also depend on weather conditions and that's why we have to be flexible. You should be prepared for unfriendly weather conditions, but hopefully the weather will be nice most of the time. This is a perfect camp for people who like outdoor work and physical challenges.
You will be working around 6 hours 5 days a week.
