About the local hosting organization

FSL India is a leading youth development organization promoting youth inclusion through volunteering and community development activities. It has been operating since 2001. FSL India's roles and the development interventions through youth engagement at the grassroot level in the present local and global context are multi-dimensional as well as multi-directional. Under the three pillars and thematic areas of development interventions, FSL India focuses on youth volunteering, community development and education. Evers since came into being, FSL India has engaged more than 30k youth from 40+ countries, and contributed to community development process and youth integration through voluntary engagement, community development initiatives and educational programs that promote Social Leadership and Personal Social Responsibility (PSR).

Presentation of the program

As FSL-India works towards cultural understanding and immersion, we therefore collaborate with many local institutes, schools and individual groups who are working to keep the local folk art, music, culture, traditions alive. We also have an option for placing volunteers who are interested in this field, to help these mini projects by involving themselves in these art forms. The different fields are: Dance Craft Wood carving, Yoga Puppetry Eco Farming

About the accommodation

Accommodation: You could be staying with local families near to the project. You could be sharing rooms with 2-3 volunteers or staying on your own. Sometimes, projects provide accommodation for the volunteers. The project will provide a room that is shared by other volunteers or with the staff of the project Food: South Indian vegetarian or non-vegetarian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Safe, filtered water is available for drinking.

About the location

Liesur Our projects are spread out across different regions in South India. Your project location could be in any one of the following locations - Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, North Karnataka or Pondicherry. You will be notified of the location of your project a month prior to your arrival. During the Orientation week, one can find out the leisure activities around your area. There are lots of things to do in south of India

Requirements

Fee: The Participation cost is 21,600 Indian Rupees for each month ViSA: According to the new Visa Regulations, volunteers coming to India to do voluntary service with/through a registered Indian organization need to apply for an “Employment Visa” ( to work with NGO / Non-Profit organization). No other visa is acceptable. In order to apply for an Employment visa, you’ll need proof of employment with an organization in India, such as a contract that states the terms and conditions. FSL India will provide necessary documents for your visa application on request. Extra information

Special Learning Projects will be conducted for 1 to 3 hours every day. During free time volunteers are also expected to be engaged in some social work like teaching in the local schools or helping other volunteers in other projects. For Special Learning projects, you have to pay an extra charge depending on the skill you want to learn – the extra fee is towards the fee for the skilled teacher and this will be informed to you at the time of applying. The application for Special Learning projects must be sent at least 2 months in advance.
