About the local hosting organization

Karnolski Art Center has been organizing national and international festivals and competitions for youth art for 29 years. It was founded by the famous Bulgarian composer of children's music - Dimitar Karnolski and music teacher Snezhana Polihronova - Karnolski. One of our main goals of the center is to discover talented children and young people and to develop their creative skills through participation in prestigious international stages, evaluated by a proven professional jury. Over the years, the center has established itself as a leading brand in organizing such events and has established lasting partnerships with artists, leaders, and schools around the world. In addition to the festivals in Bulgaria, Karnolski Art Center organizes such in Italy and Spain, thus expanding its international activities and scope. He has established successful partnerships with similar organizations, as well as with well-known European music educators and experts. The center also actively supports and participates in a number of charitable and social events in the cultural calendar of Sofia and the country, as well as in initiatives aimed at supporting and developing young talents. The main goals of the organization are: - Striving to develop and promote art for children and youth, providing prestigious forums for the expression of their talent; -Inclusion of socially disadvantaged children, disadvantaged, from different ethnic groups; -Creation of conditions for intercultural exchange, new friendships, getting to know different cultures and traditions, education in tolerance and understanding; -Creation of conditions for exchange and discussion of useful and effective practices in the education of children and youth in various fields of art .; -Building harmony between art and nature - environmentally friendly way of life, environmental protection, promotion of ecology through the means of art among children and young people. Our goals are related to discovering and supporting the creative talents of children and young people, regardless of their origin and culture, social status and economic opportunities, upgrading and developing their potential, as well as creating conditions for expression. We are actively working to create sustainable models of children's and youth creativity, such as the festivals organized by the Karnolski Art Center. The team of the organization in its activity is guided by the philosophy of art as a tool for convergence between differences, learning about different cultures and traditions, creating conditions and opportunities for personal and professional development in the field of musical arts, socialization of children and youth with outstanding musical talents and talents, as well as their support for performance. Sharing common values, including European ones, makes the activities of the Karnolski Art Center extremely attractive for children and young people from different ethnicities, cultures and countries. Guided by the belief that music is the force that brings people together, regardless of their personal history, the members of the association are motivated to make daily efforts to carry out development activities and support the realization of their target groups. Not a small part of the organization's activity is focused on the search for musical talents and their development, their inclusion in training and performance activities. The center also works actively for the purposeful dissemination of information about the opportunities for education and performance of children and youth, both in the country and abroad. The target groups to which the activities of the Karnolski Art Center are mainly focused are: -children and young people with outstanding musical talents in the field of singing and musical instruments; -children and young people from disadvantaged groups with talents to be supported and developed; -children and youth audience; -different local communities; -general public.

Presentation of the program

"We and Nature"is a European Solidarity Corps volunteering initiative coordinated by Art Center – Karnolsky in Sofia, Bulgaria. It will run from December 2025 to November 2026. It will support six young volunteers in two long-term placements. The activities focus on community engagement, intercultural learning, and solidarity, with strong emphasis on inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities and the use of green travel. Volunteers will receive full organisational, financial, and learning support, including pocket money, accommodation, language assistance, and visa coverage where needed. The project contributes to the organisation’s accredited Quality Label goals, fostering diversity and equal participation.

About the accommodation

Volunteers will be provided with safe and decent accommodation arranged by the host organisation, ensuring suitable living conditions throughout their stay. Food allowance will be covered as part of the organisational support, so that daily living costs are fully supported. Local transport to and from project activities will be arranged or reimbursed, and travel to Bulgaria will be funded according to the European Solidarity Corps distance and green travel rules.

About the leisure

Volunteers will take part in the standard ESC training cycle, including pre-departure preparation, on-arrival training, mid-term evaluation, and an annual event. They will also receive language support through Online Language Support (OLS) or other tools, as well as ongoing mentorship and supervision from the host organisation. The training is designed to enhance personal development, intercultural learning, and practical skills, helping volunteers make the most of their experience and supporting their future opportunities.

Requirements

The Participant profile: The project seeks young people aged 18–30 who are fluent in English and eager to engage in meaningful community activities. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in ecology, music, arts, and working with children, combined with motivation to learn and contribute to intercultural exchange. While no professional experience is required, volunteers should demonstrate openness, creativity, and adaptability, as well as enthusiasm for teamwork and solidarity.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
