About the local hosting organization
Since 2021, Cambodian Youth Action (CYA) has been partnering with
Development for Cambodian Children (DCC), sending international
and local volunteers to support their impactful community programs.
Volunteers play a vital role in teaching English, leading sports
activities, promoting rainforest conservation, and engaging in various
community development initiatives.
Presentation of the program
DCC empowers over 200 local children and teenagers through
education, environmental projects, and sports. Programs include
English, computer, and coding classes, along with activities that
promote sustainability such as trash management workshops and
forest preservation. Volunteers also contribute to social support
efforts, including food distribution and housing assistance for families
in need.
Through this collaboration, volunteers help foster lifelong skills,
environmental responsibility, and community resilience—creating a
meaningful impact for both students and the broader community.
Since 2021, CYA has partnered with Development for Cambodian Children (DCC)
to empower local children, teenagers, and families through education,
environmental action, and community development. Volunteers play a key role in
supporting these impactful programs.
Volunteer's tasks :
Teach English & Digital Skills:
Lead fun, practical lessons in
English, computer literacy, and
coding to help children gain
essential skills.
Support Environmental Conservation:
Join efforts to protect the rainforest,
organize clean-up drives, and conduct
waste management workshops to raise
environmental awareness.
Lead Sports & Life Skills Activities:
Facilitate sports and physical
education programs that build
teamwork, confidence, and healthy
lifestyles.
Join Community Outreach Projects:
Assist with food distribution, housing
repairs, and local events that directly
support vulnerable families.
Bring your energy and compassion to create lasting change—while learning,
sharing, and growing with the community.
About the accommodation
Volunteers will stay in a shared house with a host family, equipped with basic
amenities for a comfortable stay. Each volunteer will have a mattress, pillow,
blanket, and mosquito net. Shower and toilet facilities are available on-site.
About the food
Meals
are prepared by a local chef, with volunteers expected to help with serving,
cleaning, and dishwashing. Those interested can also join the cooking team to learn
local recipes.
About the location
You can flight to either Siem Reap or Phnom Penh if you are applying for DCC
project. The info-sheet with the detail arrangement of meeting point,
transportation from airport - project site will be provided.
About the leisure
During free time and weekends, volunteers at DCC can explore Battambang’s
cultural sites, such as ancient temples and the Bamboo Train, or enjoy cycling
tours in the countryside. They can also relax at local cafes, try traditional
Cambodian dishes, or socialize with fellow volunteers.
Extra information
Participation Fees
To support your stay and the project’s operational costs, participation fee of $220
is required. By contributing to this cost, you are not only enable a meaningful
volunteer experience but also ensure that the project remains sustainable and
impactful for local communities.
For over 15 years, CYA has sustained its work
without external funding, relying solely on
volunteer contributions. We’re deeply
grateful to our volunteers whose time, skills,
and program fees have kept our mission alive.
The fee covers:
Shared accommodation in rural project sites
Three meals per day
Project materials and community tools
On-site orientation and training
Support from local and international coordinators
Local transportation for doing your work
Certificate of Completion for future academic or career use
Volunteers are responsible for their international airfare, transportation to & from
project site, visa fees health insurance, and any personal expenses during their stay.
