About the local hosting organization
A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture is an independent, non-commercial centre for contemporary
culture in the city-centre of Bratislava. It is located in a close distance from the main train station and
a 15-minute walk from the old town of Bratislava. It is oriented towards creation, presentation and
education in present-day forms of theatre, dance, music and film, contemporary visual culture and
new media art. A4 has a performance space for around 250 people and a space for smaller events
like seminars, workshops, discussions and screenings. Five years ago A4 moved to the old YMCA
building and reconstructed the interior, creating also a small café.
Presentation of the program
A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture is looking for 5 ESC volunteers to join our team in Bratislava from January 2026.
The roles are:
PR & Communication (design materials, manage social media, interview artists),
Videographer (record events and interviews, edit and upload videos),
Photographer (capture and edit photos of concerts, theatre and discussions),
Events Technical Support (manage light, sound and setups for concerts, theatre and recordings),
Sound Studio Technical Support & Production (assist in the new A4 Sound Lab with recordings, workshops and performances).
Volunteers will work with local professionals and will have the chance to develop new skills and work on their own project while also helping with the daily activities of the cultural centre. Other activities depend on mutual discussion and on individual preferences, background and profile of the volunteer. Travel, housing, food and pocket money are covered by ESC. More info: www.a4.sk
