About the local hosting organization

POLITES Association is a non-governmental organization that came into existence in 2002 with its primary mission concentrated on promoting active citizenship among children, youth and adults, mainly through voluntary work and non-formal education. By organizing social, cultural, civic events, actions, projects and by the Association triggers a debate on issues of social life that are important and topical for the local society. We systematically implement such programs as: running the Regional Volunteer Center, the Elder Brother Elder Sister Program, the First Aid Program in the lessons, Your Voice. We are one of the founding organizations of the West Pomeranian NGO Federation and one of the founders of the Szczecin Center for the Support of Non-Governmental Organizations SECTOR3. We work in many areas with non-governmental organizations and public institutions located in Szczecin and the region, i.e. the City Hall of Szczecin, the Secretariat for Youth of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, schools, community centres, etc. We are active on European level and European voluntary service since 2003 and during this time we have sent, hosted and coordinated many European volunteers . Through the implementation of international projects, we enable young people from other countries to get to know Poland, its inhabitants and their culture, and we give the opportunity to volunteer in a Polish non-governmental organization or public institution.

Presentation of the program

Join our team of 21 volunteers and spend ten exciting months in our ESC project! More information on www.esc.polites.org.pl. POLITES Association is organizing a long-term individual volunteering project that will take place in Szczecin, Poland. Volunteers can either work in the kindergarten or office. It will last from Sept 25 to July 26. The aim of the project is to develop your key competences and gain life experience. Taking part in our project means working with kids, the youth and the local community. You will have a great chance to present yourself, your country and culture. Also, you will participate in different workshops and activities. During these ten months, you will be presenting your culture, country, ideas, and the creative approach towards many actions. About the accommodation

* shared flat with other volunteers, single rooms (fully equipped with basic appliances, up to 6 people per flat) * flats located in city centre, easy access to public transportation and shops  * travel reimbursement (limits with ESC program), local transportation ticket * possibility to join a low cost sport & leisure benefit plan (optional)

Requirements

The Participant profile: We are looking for 21 creative, motivated, open-minded, enthusiastic, curious and ready to try something new volunteers from various countries who would like to work in our office or local kindergartens. Maybe you’ve just finished school, are in a gap year, or want a fresh start — this is your chance. We're looking for volunteers who want to help others and be part of a team, are open to living abroad and discovering a new culture, can communicate in English (preferred) and are willing to learn, bring energy, creativity, and a positive mindset. Previous volunteering experience is not required. No work experience needed. Experience in field not required as well. Just bring your positive self!

During the project you will have a chance to participate in addition workshops about team work, working with kids and youth, organizing events and workshops, project management, working with kids, organizing workshops, events and actions.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
