Presentation of the program

Volunteers facilitate various non-formal and informal learning activities for children in different foster care and children's homes in Miercurea-Ciuc. The main focus will be on the topic of "Digitalisation" and volunteers will create activities where children can learn more about this topic. Each day of the week volunteers will go to different locations in different parts of our town to provide activities for various children in foster care homes. Through non-formal education and fun activities, volunteers will develop the social and English language skills of the children. In the homes, volunteers mostly work with 2 children or with the whole group of 10 children.

About the accommodation

Accommodation: volunteers will live in a fully furnished accommodation in the town, max. 2 participants in the same room, with gender-separated rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, as well as bathrooms with toilets and showers, free Wi-Fi included. Food: volunteers can use their food budget (150 EUR/month) to cater for themselves. They will receive 120 EUR/month pocket money. Transport arrangements: for local transportation, volunteers will receive bicycles to get around the town; international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to ESC Guide, and green travel is encouraged.

About the leisure

Training will happen upon your arrival. You will be presented with the cultural differences, will take part in a city tour, and meet your future mentor. We will also make sure you take part in the trainings organized by the Romanian NA: the On-Arrival Training and the Mid-Term Evaluation. For the activities, you will be fully presented with the details once you arrive and will be given all the necessary resources for you to do your research and prepare. We offer Hungarian or Romanian language support (online or in person). We will encourage you to use the General Online Training.

Extra information

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
What do we provide ?
