About the local hosting organization

Founded in 1976, Associació Alba is a non-profit organization located in Tàrrega (Catalonia, Spain) that works to attend the necessities of children, teenagers and adults with disabilities, mental health disorders and/or at risk of social exclusion. The association’s main goal is to offer comprehensive care to its target group according to their needs and interests – and those of their families - in order to achieve their maximum human development and promote social inclusion. Associació Alba is composed of different areas: education and therapy, housing, training and employment, labour and other multidisciplinary teams. The association is part of different networks at a local (ALLEM), regional (DINCAT, ACELL and FCVS), national (FEAPS) and international (EASPD) level. At the moment (2021), Associació Alba provides support to 323 people with disability, employs 313 professionals - 53 of them with disabilities -, has 547 members and counts on 143 local volunteers.

Presentation of the program

Associació Alba, based in Tàrrega (Catalonia, Spain), is a non-profit organization committed to supporting people with disabilities and promoting their autonomy, inclusion, and quality of life. Through a wide range of services—including education, occupational therapy, supported housing, and leisure activities—we work to empower individuals with disabilities and their families. While our core mission focuses on social and educational care, Associació Alba is also active in European cooperation, taking part in various Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps projects that promote inclusion, diversity, and innovation in social services. Supporting the implementation and reporting of Erasmus+ and ESC projects. Assisting in writing and preparing new EU project proposals. Helping organize international meetings, trainings, and local dissemination events. Collaborating with European partners and assisting with day-to-day communication. About the accommodation

Accommodation: volunteers have a flat with their own room in Tarrega's city centre. They share the flat with the other volunteers, being a mx. of 6 people. They share the kitchen, the bathroom and the living room. The volunteer will receive 180€ of pocket money for general expenses. Transport arrangements: our organisation is in charge of booking all the transportation needed from the volunteer destination to Tarrega at their arrival and their departure.

About the food

Food: Volunteers work 5 days/week. Lunch is provided the days that they work. For the rest of the meals, they receive 120€/month.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We are looking for a volunteer aged 18–30 with a strong motivation to contribute to social inclusion through European project work. The ideal candidate should have an academic background in Political Science, International Relations, European Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field, and a clear interest in EU affairs, inclusion policies, and project-based work within a social organization. In addition to her academic background, the volunteer should be: - Autonomous and responsible, able to manage tasks independently while contributing to team efforts - Organized and detail-oriented, with good time management skills - Professional and mature, with the ability to approach complex situations respectfully and thoughtfully - Proactive and committed, open to learning and contributing actively to the development of the project - Fluent in English; knowledge of Spanish or Catalan is a plus but not mandatory - Willingness to commit to the entire 6-month duration of the project - Compliance with the volunteer contract, including providing a 4-week notice in case of early departure - Active participation in daily activities, team meetings, and the continuous improvement of the project - A respectful and supportive attitude towards people with disabilities, co-workers, and project partners If this profile sounds like you and you're eager to make a real impact while learning about European cooperation in a social context, we warmly encourage you to apply!

Extra information

During the opportunity, volunteer receives a training on the centred person methodology work that we use in Alba organisation to work with people. They also take part in language exchanges to improve their knowledge in Spanish and Catalan. Application procedure: send your CV at [email protected]
