About the local hosting organization

The cultural association Link, founded in 2003, offers through its activities opportunities for non-formal education, mobility, and intercultural exchange for young people, providing concrete responses to their needs for training, personal growth, and the exercise of active citizenship.
Link encourages language learning and the acquisition of new skills that facilitate access to the labor market. The projects promoted by the Link association foster civic engagement, increase the sense of belonging to Europe, and combat discrimination.
Democracy, active participation, inclusion, the appreciation of voluntary commitment, and the value of diversity are the core principles that guide the life of the association.
In cooperation with European and local partners, and with the support of European mobility programs, Link carries out volunteering and solidarity projects, youth exchanges, seminars, and training courses.
Link also hosts and implements hosting and sending projects, paying particular attention to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities and NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), and coordinates various entities active in the communities of Altamura and Gravina in Puglia.
The association is a member of RIVE (Italian Network for European Volunteering), which brings together various organizations active across Italy, with the aim of promoting international youth mobility.

Long-term volunteers will be followed during all the activities by a tutor who will favor their job placement and integration within the working group, thus favoring one full and active participation in all the activities of the NGO. The tutor will organize meetings programming periodicals in which the other members of the NGO will participate, and will be made available to contribute to the resolution of any voluntary need. In order to facilitate the integration of the volunteer not only in the organization, but also in the community local, a mentor will be identified.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
