Presentation of the program

This volunteer project will bring together 12 European participants to form a dedicated team. The twofold mission is to preserve local heritage and foster connections with the community. Taking place in Palacret, Brittany, volunteers will assist in restoring the tailrace of an old flax mill under professional supervision—no masonry skills needed. The project also encourages disconnection from digital life and reconnection with nature. Throughout the program, volunteers will engage in cultural exchanges and develop integration initiatives with locals. Working Monday to Friday, participants will have opportunities to explore the region, including two-day visits to Rennes at the start and end of the project. Accommodation will be provided in a youth hostel, ensuring a comfortable and immersive experience.

About the accommodation

Volunteers will be staying in a beautiful farmhouse in a natural setting where they can disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. Volunteers will sleep in rooms for 2 or 3 people. There will be a shared budget for the team (food, petrol, etc.) and the volunteers will be in charge of the cooking. Vehicles will be made available to the team for travel (activities, visits, etc.).

Extra information

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
