Presentation of the program

AFS Vivre Sans Frontière is a French non-for-profit organization specialized in intercultural learning for 15-18 year olds. The ESC volunteer will raise awareness among our AFS volunteers to the educational content provided to our young French and foreign participants during orientations: gathering events based on non-formal education methods, that are organized all year long everywhere in France to prepare and support participants for their exchange mobility program. Main responsibilities include : Making sure AFS volunteers know and understand our educational content and convey it accordingly. Participating in local orientations to help AFS volunteers organize the activities. CoConducting online orientations to young participants. CoConductiong the PEACE camp (gathering for European AFS participants in Brussels) Participate in monitoring participants' learning progress. Contributing to other projects based on the team's needs and/or the volunteer’s interests.

About the accommodation

Volunteering hours: 35 hours per week The volunteer will travel across France by train to participate in local orientations Expenses covered by AFS France under the ESC programme : Round-trip transport from your country to France / Health insurance and liability insurance / Pocket money and food allowance / Accommodation in a private studio in the outskirts of Paris / Local transportation

About the leisure

Learning opportunities : French Online language support provided by ESC – EU Academy and in person French classes if possible, near the accommodation of volunteers / AFS Global Up Abroad intercultural learning program: online platform with videos, quizzes, forums, use cases, exercises and live sessions with other participants / On-site and virtual training in intercultural learning and non-formal facilitation / Youthpass certification to validate acquired transversal skills

Requirements

The Participant profile: Strong interest in intercultural learning and global citizenship education / Comfortable with public speaking in front of young participants and conducting virtual conferences / Willingness to learn about digital tools, such as Google Suite / Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable person with an eagerness to learn / Recommended to speak French and English / Feel comfortable traveling independently in France and being hosted by local AFS volunteers / Commitment to AFS’s mission and values is a plus

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment.
