About the local hosting organization
Statutory object :
CONCORDIA is a non-profit organisation for Youth and Popular Education founded in 1950 with the aim to promote international exchanges of young volunteers. Concordia's objectives are :
- To contribute to the animation of the social life by the participation of French and foreign volunteers in the realization of civil works of general interest.
- To promote the circulation of people and ideas through international exchanges in order to develop knowledge, mutual understanding and peace.
- To promote an education project, encouraging an active citizenship of people for a democratic, united and participatory society.
Organization:
Concordia has a national headquarters and 11 delegations spread throughout France.
Concordia Midi Pyrénées is the local office in the South-Western area surrounding Toulouse. We are specialized in hosting short and long-term volunteering projects, such as :
• ESC programs (youth exchanges and hosting long-term ESC volunteers)
• international workcamps,
• local specific youth programs,
• rural development projects with local stakeholders and institutions,
• awareness education workshops.
As of September 2021 Concordia Midi Pyrénées is a team of about 40 active members (see attached file : map of Concordia Midi Pyrénées members).
Presentation of the program
Come and discover Toulouse, the Ville Rose, from a different angle!
In partnership with the association Un Œil Sur Ma Ville*, you will restore part of the collective memory of a district of the city. For two weeks, you will meet the inhabitants with the aim of collecting local memory: finding old documents, collecting their words and creating audio, visual, pictorial content... You will be able to give free rein to your creativity to create content from your finds. During the heritage and matrimony days, you will be asked to present your finds to the local inhabitants.
*Un Œil Sur Ma Ville is a Toulouse-based NGO that aims to enable everyone to better understand the history of their city. Through exhibition tours in the heart of the city, co-created using residents' memories, the NGO strives to create social connections between all.
About the accommodation
You will sleep in individual tents (provided by Concordia) with access to sanitary facilities, showers, and a kitchen. Everyone will take turns preparing meals and managing the living space (organizing schedules, cleaning, shopping, etc.). Tasks will be shared collectively, and meals will be prepared together (mainly vegetarian). A budget will be allocated to the team leaders, and you will participate in grocery shopping, prioritizing healthy and locally sourced products. For your comfort, a washing machine will be available on site, and there will be access to Wi-Fi.
About the leisure
Investigation & historian work: collecting old documents, testimonies, pictures...
Creativity : creating content from your findings
