Presentation of the program
Join us for a 6-week volunteering experience in Corleto Monforte, a medieval village in the Cilento area (Southern Italy), starting from April 8th. Located in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park and part of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB Reserve), this rural community is facing rapid depopulation, and we need your support for a long-term revitalization project. You'll help preserve and expand the village’s Emotional Archive (photo cataloguing and video editing), create trekking routes, design and promote co-living and co-working spaces, support the Natural History Museum (including species fact sheets and Walter Maioli’s video editing), and promote the town’s natural attractions, local businesses, and cultural events. Volunteers will live in close contact with nature and the local community, experiencing the charm of a quiet, authentic Italian village.
About the accommodation
Volunteers will be hosted in shared accommodation in the village. Meals will be provided or self-managed with a budget. Transportation for project-related activities will be organized by the hosting team. The experience includes simple rural living, close contact with locals, and immersion in Cilento’s natural and cultural heritage.
About the leisure
Volunteers will receive initial training on community engagement, digital storytelling, and intergenerational facilitation. Ongoing support will be provided for media content creation, museum collaboration, and exhibition planning. They will also learn about rural regeneration practices and sustainable lifestyles in depopulating areas.
Requirements
The Participant profile: We are looking for 5 motivated volunteers aged 18–30, open-minded and eager to embrace a fully rural environment, away from the cities, to contribute to community-based work in a rural context. Skills or interest in photography, video editing, communication, or social media are welcome. Empathy, adaptability, and willingness to engage with elderly people and live in a remote area are essential. No prior experience required—just motivation and curiosity.
