Presentation of the program

We are looking for motivated young people to join an international volunteer group project in Jēkabpils, Latvia for 19 days. This project focuses on creating meaningful connections between generations, supporting active ageing, and strengthening community spirit. Main Activities During the project, volunteers will: Support the local Senior Day Centre by helping to diversify and enrich daily activities for seniors; Organize creative workshops, games, cultural exchanges, movement activities, and informal social events; Work together with local young people to prepare for the Jēkabpils City Festival; Help create and facilitate activities where seniors can actively participate during the city celebrations; Encourage inclusion, communication, and cooperation between generations.

About the accommodation

Living: we will provide students dormitories, located in center of city and 15 min walk from organisation. Food: 6.50 eur/day Pocket money: 5 eur/day Also we cover expanses of local transport, to capital city Rīga - up to 35 eur/, Also we cover flight/ train tickets to Latvia and back come according to Erasmus+ distance calculator budget.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We welcome volunteers who are: 18 - 30 years old; Open-minded and motivated; Interested in community work and intercultural exchange; Creative, proactive, and ready to work in a team; Interested in working with seniors and local youth. No previous experience is required — enthusiasm and willingness to participate are the most important!

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
