Presentation of the program

Public Library of Pomiechówek Commune lends books and organizes cultural and educational activities related to reading. Its target group includes inhabitants and visitors of the commune who are of different ages. Volunteer will be involved in everyday work of the library and will be encouraged to realise own initiatives. Possible activities and tasks: - Librarian’s work such as arranging books, writing reviews, online promotion - Creating promotional graphic materials/illustrations/designs - Help in organising programming lessons for children, language meetings, etc. - Help in organising meetings about literature, meetings with writers - Visits in kindergartens and schools to promote reading and intercultural education - Organising own presentations and meetings such as language meetings, traveller’s meetings, creative workshops - Promoting Volunteering and European Solidarity Corps Infopack: https://www.spw.ngo/pomiechowek-library-infopack

About the accommodation

- Accommodation: 2 volunteers will live in a house shared with its owner. They will stay in a flat on the first floor and the owner lives on the ground floor. Their part of the house has a kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. - Food: Volunteer receives 150 EUR/month and should be cooking on their own - Pocket money: 180 EUR per month - Language support: online language course (OLS) provided by the program - International travel: reimbursement up to 211 EUR, 309 EUR or 395 EUR* *a little extra fund possible for a "green travel"

About the leisure

- Orientation training (coordinating organization): introduction to the project, getting to know the cooridinators and the organization, integration with other volunteers, planning - On-arrival training (National Agency): Getting to know Poland, ESC introduction (5 days) - Mid-term evaluation meeting (National Agency, 5 days) - Final evaluation (coordinating organization) - Evaluation meetings/trainings (coordinating organization): intercultural education, learning, cultural adaptation, communication (once every two months)

Requirements

The Participant profile: - Interested in literature and/or art, culture, history, graphic design and illustration etc. - Creative, independent and ready to have own ideas and initiatives - Friendly, making relationships with people easily - Willing to work with people of different ages (from small children to seniors) - Communicative English - Reliable and diligent

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment.
