Presentation of the program

Lääne-Harju Youth and Cultural Center is a public youth center located in the north-western part of Estonia, working with young people through various educational and cultural activities. The organisation coordinates the work of seven youth rooms based in different small towns. Local young people aged 7-26 are welcome to join wide range of leisure activities organised by the permanent staff. The volunteers will be assisting a team of youth workers in daily activities of the centers in various locations giving a chance to see many places including beautiful nature and meet people around Lääne-Harju county. The youth worker provide task related support and guidance to the volunteers. Developing ideas and taking initiative is encouraged and fostered. Lääne-Harju Youth and Cultural Center is open to host international volunteers who would become part of their community. About the accommodation

The volunteers will be housed in a shared flat in a small town in Keila which is located near Tallinn. All the necessities are provided in the apartment. There is a frequent bus and train connection between villages in the area as well with the capital. Volunteers receive €5/day pocket money and additional €7/day food allowance, managing their own meals. International travel is reimbursed based on set travel budget and task related local transport is covered to full extent.

About the leisure

Team at Lääne-Harju Youth Centers is made up of professional youth workers who are dedicated to supporting the personal development of volunteers throughout their stay. They are ready to offer support, coaching and assistance with adjusting and shaping the experience. Volunteers will also take part in the ESC training cycle organized by the National Agency, which focuses on personal development and intercultural learning. Additionally, the coordinating organisation arranges hikes and other activities for volunteers throughout the service period, providing opportunities for social interaction.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment.
