About the local hosting organization

Võru Kindergarten Päkapikk has 50 year history. The kindergarten belongs to local municipality. It consists of ten kindergarten classes (children aged 1,5 to 7 years). This academic year there are 215 children registered and participating in classes. 25 teachers work in kindergarten. Besides working with curriculum on daily basis, our kindergarten specially focuses on children’s healthcare, environmental awareness, local studies and preparation for school. We have nice traditions like: days with family, outdoor education, sport activity days, visiting theatres and concerts, hikes and excursions during spring and summer.

Presentation of the program

Kindergarten Päkapikk is a municipal kindergarten located in Võru. It operates with ten groups, comprising two groups for small children aged 1.5 to 3 years, and eight groups for children aged 3 to 7 years. The kindergarten values outdoor education and cultural traditions. Besides working with curriculum on daily basis, the kindergarten especially focuses on children’s healthcare, environmental awareness, local studies and preparation for school. Volunteers play a supportive role in the kindergarten, helping staff with daily activities. They can choose to work with a specific age group or assist across multiple groups based on their interests and abilities. Volunteers have the chance to contribute ideas, propose new teaching games, songs, dances, share aspects of their own culture with the children. About the accommodation

Volunteers will be provided with suitable accommodation conveniently located near their respective hosting organisation. Accommodation will typically be in a shared apartment or hostel, furnished with essential items. Rooms may be private or shared, depending on availability, with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Volunteers receive €5/day pocket money and a €200 food allowance, managing their own meals. International travel is reimbursed based on set travel budget and task related local transport is covered to full extent.

About the leisure

Volunteers will take part in the ESC training cycle organized by the Estonian National Agency, which focuses on personal development and intercultural learning. Additionally, EstYES organizes hikes and other activities for volunteers throughout the service period, providing opportunities for social interaction.
