About the local hosting organization

Association LITDEA is the network organization uniting non-governmental organizations working on development education and cooperation field. It was established in 2004. Association LITDEA is a non-profit organization, voluntarily representing its members in Lithuania and foreign countries in the area of important political decisions relevant to the working field - development cooperation and education. Association LITDEA units more than 12 organizations which have experience in the development cooperation and education projects. The main aim of the association is to spread the values and ideas of development cooperation and education in Lithuania and other countries. It seeks for more productive dialog and cooperation possibilities with non-governmental and governmental institutions of Lithuania which have political responsibility of implementation and development of development cooperation ideas and projects. Association is socially responsible and highly connected with national and international communities seeking for its provided goals. LITDEA pursues to strengthen cooperation within its members, national and international partners, other organizations. Also, it encourages higher non-governmental role in a public and political life. Likewise, majority of the activities are pursued voluntarily. Regular activities of LITDEA are: 1. To help and mediate member organizations of association while implementing projects of public education; 2. Implementation of the programs strengthening working abilities of member organizations; 3. Organization of national and international conferences, discussions, debates and seminars; 4. Fund-raising consulting for non-governmental organizations; 5. Consulting about the applications of the projects and its implementation processes; 6. Cooperation with international organizations CONCORD and TRIALOG; 7. Public opinion formation, interests representation, briefing for the members about new political tendencies, strategies and activities in the development cooperation sector.

Presentation of the program

Into the wild with MELKYS SCHOOL! ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Melkys school is an eco-community school and kindergarten in the nature at the cozy Melkys village, 25 km from the capital Vilnius. School's aim is to raise awareness of critical thinking about educational system, humanistic education, importance of learning from practice and together with the nature ACTIVITIES: * volunteers spend time in the kindergarten, helping and assisting teachers and kids during educational process; * volunteers help during the lessons at school; * volunteers learn about outdoor, humanistic education methods, ensuring safety methods outside; * volunteers are invited to implement their own ideas and projects: participate in social actions and events, festivals for children and educators, community festivals, summer camps.

About the accommodation

ALLOWANCE and ACCOMODATION: *monthly pocket money up to 300 eur * transportation costs, additional help to travel to and from the school is possible (if needed) * personal room in an apartment with other ESC volunteers, shared communal spaces.

About the leisure

- on-arrival and mid-term training provided by National Agency; - little on-arrival provided by coordinating organization; - online Lithuanian language course; - informal events within the volunteer community hosted by the supporting organization.

The Participant profile: We are looking for a person who would be interested in outdoor activities, ecological lifestyle, new point of view to education processes; finds joy in working with children and aspires to become a part of the school's welcoming community.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
