About the local hosting organization
Association "International Scout Center Rustavi" (ISCR) is an independent non-political, nongovernmental, non-profit public movement of young people. ISCR represents a voluntary educational movement for children and young people open to all without distinction of origin, race, sex, and religion. ISCR is assisting children and young people in receiving formal and non-formal education. Activities are based on full self-governance and voluntary participation of its members. Taking into
account the current situation in the country and in the region, the main goal of ISCR is to develop youth work and scouting, which will contribute to the development of the young generation in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potentials both as individuals and responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national, and international communities. Except educational aspects ISCR is running Scout house – Youth hostel. The Scout house hosts
international groups of people that attend a specific event or seminar as well as independent groups that want to benefit from the location and the non formal education programmes offered by the centre team.
Presentation of the program
The International Scout Centre Rustavi is a youth and volunteer hub committed to promoting non-formal education, intercultural learning, inclusion, and active citizenship. Volunteers will support the planning and implementation of educational, creative, outdoor, and environmental activities for children and youth. Activities may include conversation clubs, arts and crafts workshops, environmental campaigns, hiking and nature-based learning, social media content creation, project writing, and inclusive programs with partner organizations working with persons with disabilities. Volunteers will gain practical experience, contribute to community development, and grow both personally and professionally. For more information about our work and past volunteers’ activities, please visit our social media pages: https://linktr.ee/iscr.ge
Volunteering position is open from 6 to 12 months starting from September.
About the accommodation
Volunteers will be accommodated in a shared rented apartment near the city center. Each volunteer will have a private bedroom and share the kitchen and common spaces with others. The apartment is within walking distance from the scout centre, so no daily transport is required. The project provides a monthly food allowance and pocket money. Health insurance is also fully covered.
About the leisure
Volunteers will take part in the mandatory on-arrival training and mid-term evaluation. In addition, the scout centre offers regular internal learning sessions, skills-based workshops, and mentoring support. Trainings may cover topics such as project development, environmental education, youth work methods, leadership, and intercultural communication, depending on volunteers’ interests and the needs of the centre. Georgian language course will also be provided during the project.
