About the local hosting organization
Szatyor Association was founded in 2011 with the aim of drawing attention to sustainable living and conscious consuming as possibility to individual actions towards a positive present and future World. Related to this, we would like to provide space and opportunity to anyone for sharing knowledges, experiences and solutions. As an alternative eco-conscious association we want to be a living example of how to integrate conscious consuming, healthy lifestyle, local and fairtrade products into our everyday lives. Throughout our programmes, we intend to build a community by bringing people closer to nature and to natural solution, such as food producing, cosmetics and household products, etc. We also organize farm visits to our producers to show eco-conscious farming in its authentic environment. On a regular basis we create events of community cooking, cooking classes and attend festivals, all by using seasonal vegetables and fruits provided by our producers.
Our target group includes everybody who wishes to lead his/her urban or village lifestyle with a consideration to nature. It can start by conscious consuming with an important approach to local products and producers, as well as to environmental friendly technologies throughout the process of production. Our association is an open community and space offering workshops, classes and presentations to share the knowledge within and to give possible solutions in the topic.
In 2018 we've started to widen our horizons from the urban aspects and to promote sustainable living beyond the city and have started the 'Etyeki Szatyor Community' close to the capital that could serve as a model of small-scale community and farming. In the past years our efforts has been acknowledged in a wider public and in the long term we would like to reach more and more youths under 30, since they have a significant role in creating a sustainable future. ESC provides an excellent opportunity to promote these efforts, as well as to share the knowledge, to ignite new opportunities and to become part of an international approach.
Presentation of the program
⋆˚˖° To be eligible, please fill out our Application Form through Google: http://bit.ly/4eNS6XD⋆˚˖° Field Notes is a 3-week long volunteering opportunity which grew from a feeling many of us might recognize. Uncertainty about the world we live in and the futures we are expected to fit into. The project invites young people to step away from passive consumption and engage more directly with questions around community, resilience, sustainability and alternative ways of organizing life together. Participants will explore what becomes possible when people actively shape their environment together instead of simply adapting to it.
About the accommodation
We will provide 4-6 person tents within the volunteer village, but please bring your own sleeping bag! The facilities will be simple, we will use outdoor showers and compost toilets. As for your meals, cooking will be a vital, communal act we all share. Every day, we'll take turns in the kitchen, to create wholesome vegetarian dishes that reflect our commitment to local quality ingredients and mutual care. Your travel costs will reimbursed according to the distance between your home and the project location. More information will be provided after selection.
About the leisure
The project will take place in the Habitat Hub: a rural living lab where we explore what the future of villages could look like. Living labs are spaces for learning through real-life experience: instead of separating theory and practice, we learn by doing. The goal is to rethink small-scale ways of living: how we relate to energy, water, food and each other. Throughout the project, participants will join smaller working groups built around an ever-changing ‘task cloud’ created by our team. The projects emerge from real situations, real limitations and real possibilities of the place.
Requirements
The Participant profile: We're on the lookout for vibrant individuals aged between 18 and 30 who are legal residents of the European Union - a total of 15 people. You might feel at home at Habitat Hub if: you sometimes feel that the way the world works doesn’t fully make sense to you, you are curious about alternative ways of living, even if you don’t have experience, you enjoy working with your hands or you’ve been wanting to try, you are open to living closely with others: all the beauty and challenges that come with it.
