Presentation of the program
ADRA Zambia is a non-governmental, faith-based humanitarian organization reaching over 20,000 people annually through programs in health, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment. We focus on empowering communities and building their capacity for sustainable self-reliance. We are looking for a Grant Writer to join our Business Development Unit. In this role, you will support the search for funding opportunities and contribute to writing high-quality proposals. You will receive training on ADRA’s methodologies, country strategies, donor priorities, and effective grant writing. The position is based at our Lusaka headquarters, with monthly field visits to Southern, Eastern, Central, Western, and Lusaka provinces. This role is ideal for someone passionate about humanitarian work, with strong writing skills and an interest in development. Previous experience is an asset but not required—training will be provided.
About the accommodation
ADRA will provide comfortable, furnished, and secure accommodation for you in Lusaka city. Zambians are friendly, welcoming people, and speak English and Chinyanja. A monthly sum of approx 430€ will be provided for your upkeep (meals and local transportation). You can make your own meals or use the various kinds of restaurants. Transport is by road using commuter taxis and easy access to several shopping malls. You will share transport with the ADRA team while doing your duties. If a field visit takes place, accommodation will be provided.
About the leisure
Before departure, you will participate in an online pre-departure training to help you prepare for your role. Upon arrival in Zambia, you will take part in an on-site orientation, where you’ll be introduced to the local context and meet the host country teams.
You will also gain access to a basic e-learning course covering key topics such as grant searching, proposal writing and related topics. You will participate in local induction to ensure a smooth integration with the community and your team.
Requirements
The Participant profile: We are looking for someone interested in research and grant writing, ideally in the field of humanitarian or development work. The role involves searching for donors and funding opportunities, and working with our business development team to support youth and women’s groups. We're also looking for someone who can share their knowledge of grant searching and writing with people from different backgrounds and levels of experience.
We welcome diversity and applicants from various backgrounds - this opportunity is open to everyone.
We conduct interviews on a rolling basis.
