About the local hosting organization

Green Association is a Bulgarian non-governmental organization based in Sofia, but extending its activities beyond the narrow boundaries of our capital. The foundations were laid by a group of enthusiasts for whom personal development and preservation of human values lies in two basic principles - the feeling of goodwill and duty to the society and its welfare, preservation of natural resources and minimal human intervention in the environment. Green is the color of peace and nature. Harmony between man and nature has been more and more broken and the "green” society seeks every chance to recover it. Green is a symbol of something new, pure and yet to further develop. Green is the color of every idea catching the sunlight for a first time. Our mission is to support substantial ideas that need some push up. Hence one of the main objectives of the association, namely the promotion of youth initiatives characterizes one of the main "green" principles. Among other objectives set by the association are sustainable regional development and promotion of local business, cultural and social progress of small towns and their improvement through the implementation of a number of events; constant exchange of people and ideas with organizations founded upon the same principles; construction of communal eco villages led by permaculture principles in which external influence is reduced to a minimum. One of the main means to achieve the above mentioned objectives are grant support for their implementation and the collection of donations. Basic "green" activities are the organization of workshops, seminars, round tables, festivals and other forums and events promoting and supporting the association objectives. The core of the organization is formed out of three people supported continuously by the members of the association and our regular volunteers who we can rely on at any time.
