Presentation of the program
IA's objectives as a lead organisation in the ESC is part of our strategy in the field of youth (2024-2026). It fosters a process of mutual empowerment of the volunteers and the organisation with a view to: - Engage youth in sociopolitical dialogue and enhance its effectiveness in influencing decision making; - Empower youth and increase employment opportunities through training, skills’ development, and participation; - Confront interpersonal and intergroup stereotypes and enhance intercultural understanding among youth. Volunteers' workload is predefined by a detailed schedule in each separate project. Generally, 6 working hours per day, 5 days a week, and 2 days off per month and on National holidays is the rule. The schedule covers the volunteers' specific learning needs, fulfilling the projects' objectives and enabling their personal and professional development.
About the accommodation
Volunteers will share an apartment which is located at walking distance from the office of Inter Alia. They will stay in a single room. Pocket money and food allowance will be provided. The travel expenses will be covered by the project budget provided that the travel is realised in the most economical way and after an agreement between the sending organisation and the project coordinator.
About the leisure
Participants will follow the curriculum of the Inter Alia Council of Members and the on-arrival and mid-term training offered by the Greek National Agency. Preparatory training before departure: Training activities will introduce volunteers to their new role and environment, preparing them for the psychological and physical effects of the culture shock, and ways to mitigate it. Similar training is provided to our new staff members, especially if they are going to work with the new coming volunteers.
