Presentation of the program
Marca ADL is a local development association based in Montemor-o-Novo, a rural small city in Portugal. Marca ADL mission is centered on the Promotion of the social and economic development of rural regions, in particular the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo in conjunction with other territories, seeking solutions to local and global problems, involving and bringing citizens and institutions closer together in the search for solutions that promote sustainability and improve the quality of life of the population. Since 2015 Marca ADL most proeminent activity is developed around the Mediterranean Ecosystem Conservation Center, where we promote investigation, conservation and education activities around Mediterranean Flora and its ecosystems. A plant nursery, where around 100 native species are produced, is the main infrastructure of this structural activity and involves daily operational works.
About the leisure
Volunteers will be trained by the staff to acquire skills and competences around: - Plant nursery operational works: seed collection, sowing, transplanting plants, plant nursery maintenence work. - Conservation of Mediterranean ecosystems: planting activities and invasive species removal - Environmental education activities.
The Portuguese National Agency will also provide 2 training opportunities during the volunteering period.
Requirements
The Participant profile: Participant age aged from 18 to 30 years old, with nationality or residence in one of the partner countries from the project, particularly from Portugal, Spain, France, Slovenia, Italy. Motivated person to participate in: intercultural activities and dialogue; sustainable activities, particularly in the field of nature conservation, environmental education activities, develop these skills and competences as a group (teamwork), willing to acquire and develop language skills, especially English and Portuguese; willing to move to Montemor-o-Novo, a small rural city during the volunteering period
