About the local hosting organization
On 13th of June in 1946, Ankara University was formally founded on the basis of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s doctrine and revolutions in order to strengthen and spread these principles to a wide area with the modern society, science and enlightenment. Ankara University was not only the first higher education institution founded in the Turkish Republic and the capital city of Ankara, it is also the oldest, and the largest university in Ankara and one of the best-established university in Turkiye, as well. The university has the prospect to be one of the leading universities in the world. The university is diversified and versatile with its well-developed 19 faculties, 14 Graduate schools, 11 Vocational Schools, 1 State Conservatory, 43 Research and Application Centers, 1 College of Foreign Languages with about 4.000 teaching staff and 70.000 students. It continues to provide education in 15 large campuses located in Ankara Vocational schools are mainly located in the surrounding 7 districts: Ayaş, Beypazarı, Elmadağ, Haymana, Kalecik, Kızılcahamam, Nallıhan, Districts. Ankara University has 36 campuses in total. The most important academic activities of Ankara University besides education and training are scientific research studies. Ankara University was selected as a Research University by Higher Education Council of Turkiye.
Presentation of the program
Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry is looking for 10 enthusiastic international volunteers to join our one-month ESC Volunteering Team in Ankara, Türkiye! This initiative is specially made for young people who share a true passion for healthcare sciences, healthy lifestyles, and community solidarity. As a team, our main goal is to create a positive social impact by organizing creative public health campaigns, designing friendly educational workshops, and producing dynamic social media content to make general health and dental hygiene knowledge accessible to everyone. To inspire and support your volunteering actions, you will dive into an advanced dental hospital and medical campus environment. It is the perfect opportunity to combine your passion for medical wellbeing with community solidarity, share your culture, and form strong lifelong bonds with other future healthcare peers.
About the accommodation
Accommodation: You will stay in shared student accommodation facilities provided by Ankara University.
Food: All daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be fully provided and arranged by the host organization throughout the project. Additionally, cash pocket money will be given to the volunteers in accordance with official ESC rules.
Transport: Local transit support for official volunteering and awareness activities will be managed by the hosts. An Info Pack about airport transfers and daily life in Ankara will be shared with selected participants before arrival.
About the leisure
To fully prepare you for your volunteering and awareness tasks, you will receive:
• An on-arrival orientation session to adapt to the city, campus, and your team.
• Basic language support and training to help you communicate with the local community during campaigns.
• Training on public communication, non-formal education methods, and digital content creation.
• Regular mentoring, team-building, and evaluation support from coordinators.
• Full guidance to document your learning outcomes and receive the official Youthpass Certificate.
Requirements
The Participant profile: We are looking for young volunteers who meet the following criteria:
• Highly motivated to volunteer, share solidarity, and advocate for public health awareness.
• Driven by a genuine passion, clear enthusiasm, or foundational studies in medical sciences, general wellbeing, oral healthcare, or dentistry fields.
• Excited about creating public health campaigns, educational videos, or interactive workshops for youth.
• Able to communicate effectively in English to collaborate within a multicultural team.
• Open-minded, cooperative, proactive, and ready to take part in community volunteering activities with a big smile.
• Please note that prior ESC or international volunteering experience is not required.

The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment.
