Presentation of the program

For this European Solidarity Corps Teams project in Southern Italy, we are looking for 9 motivated volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 to join us in a one-month journey of shared regeneration. The project will take place between Buccino and Contursi Terme, two villages in the Campania region rich in history, community spirit, and transformative potential. Participants will engage in ecological, artistic, and community-based actions, aimed at regenerating underused public spaces, co-designing a new community garden, and revitalizing rural life through permaculture, collective creativity, and intergenerational encounters. This is a unique opportunity to explore how solidarity and cooperation can give new life to places often forgotten—starting from the ground up, and always together.

About the accommodation

In Buccino, volunteers will be hosted at Casa Mòvesi, a community house in the heart of the historic center and archaeological park, with shared rooms and access to a communal kitchen. In Contursi Terme, accommodation will be provided in Palazzo Arnone, a newly renovated youth hostel. Meals in Contursi will be prepared by local volunteers from community associations. Volunteers will receive pocket money and food allowance, and meals in Buccino will be self-managed in shared kitchen spaces. Transport for activities between the two towns will be managed by the hosting organizations.

About the leisure

Volunteers will join a rich hands-on learning journey combining non-formal education, permaculture, and community regeneration. Sessions will be led by Mario Panzarella (permaculture designer) and Francesco Verderese (eco-maker), focusing on regenerative design, eco-construction, and creative reuse. Participants will explore participatory planning, intercultural teamwork, digital storytelling (video, photo, interviews), and reflect on skills and outcomes through Youthpass.

Extra information

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
