Presentation of the program

The volunteers will be supporting the independent living of the people with disabilities in the living units. The activities which the volunteers will implement in the houses will be connected with the personal plans of each of the beneficiaries. The goals are usually connected with the skills they need to develop and with the activities they need to do during the day. Sometimes, the goals are to have a walk in the city center, or in the nature, to shop in the local green market or a store, to do tea or coffee by them selves, to help at home (to fold their clothes, to do a bit gardening etc.). Additionally the volunteers will implement activities in the Center for Occupational Therapy where young people with disabilities are participating in the activites.

About the accommodation

The travel costs are fully cover up to an amount of 310 euro. The opportunity is open for 2 months of volunteering. 2 days per month are given to the volunteer as a holiday. Total 4 days are provided to the volunteer as free days in the total volunteering duration. Accommodation: The rent and utilities are paid directly by Krik. The house is located in Kisela Voda Municipality in South-eastern part of Skopje and it is 10 minutes by bus to the center of Skopje (20 minutes walk to the city center).

Extra information

The training program is consisted of a series of training that the volunteers are following on the beginning of their service. -Working in mix group of people with disabilities and without, -Erasmus+ program and European Solidarity Corps, -Project Cycle Management and -Implementing individual plans for people with disabilities. The volunteers are defining and following their learning objectives since the beginning of the project activities with the Coordinator (during those 3 meetings each week) and during the Mentor meeting using the Mentor Diary.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
