Foundation Escuela de Solidaridad (FES) is a non-profit organization that began its activity in 1995 and was established as a social entity in 1997. Since then, the foundation has focused on working with groups that they experience uprooting, social disadvantage, mistreatment or exclusion. Especially: - Mothers with children in an emergency situation - Young people in social exclusion - homeless immigrants - People with disabilities - vulnerable adults In general, FES deal with any homeless/vulnerable sort person who needs and wants a family. Our mission is to provide residents with training and education tools in values that allow them adequate social integration and improve their chances in the labor market. Our ordinary activities in the community involve administrative work, school support, nursery, workshops, cooking, baking, general maintenance, cleaning, gardening, language classes, computer classes and the organization of dissemination and leisure activities, among others. The staff consists of six permanent members and volunteers collaborate with us in our regular activities. Volunteers can also carry out their own personal projects according to the needs and objectives of the foundation. FES is sustained through self-management and thanks to the daily and voluntary activity of the residents of the community and its volunteers. In FES people of different ages, countries, cultures, religions coexist. A great HOUSE based on SOLIDARITY is then created as a tool for coexistence, responsibility, the execution of tasks and communication. It is about being a FAMILY for these people, where beyond covering the needs of their materials, they are given affection, emotional support and a reference for the rest of their lives. The ultimate meaning of FES is to recover the family sense of people who, due to various circumstances, have not been able to and cannot experience it. It starts from a concept of universal family where any creed, idea, religion or conviction is accepted and fully integrated, with respect as a method of intervention and personal development. With these premises, FES welcomes people in a home based on a philosophy of openness, of not putting conditions on those who are welcomed in the community, except in the case of people with addiction or violence problems, who are referred to specialized centers. The FES welcomes people who, for various reasons, are socially disadvantaged. This disadvantage has the consequence that basic rights and freedoms are vulnerable, which makes it difficult for them to participate actively in society, triggering a exclusion process. This situation triggers job insecurity, lack of training, difficult access to decent housing, fragile health conditions and networks social and family, economic precariousness, among others. People who reside in FES they are mostly adults between 18 and 30 years old, within this group we find: mothers with children in an emergency situation, migrants (today the largest group present), people with disabilities, young people in social exclusion, sick adults, etc. Training is also provided to professionals in the social, educational, health and artistic, about interventions with the aforementioned groups and the development of community devices. This philosophy based on welcoming and unconditional acceptance produces an educational phenomenon, feedback of the foundation's basic values over time: the testimony of overcoming, learning and integration of people with more years and experience in the home becomes role model for newcomers. It would be about providing financial and material support as well as, above all, emotional and community support to the people who are part of FES in order to help them design their vital project as members of society, moving them away from exclusion and bringing them closer to experiences and experiences that increase their self-esteem, their sense of belonging to the community and showing them their intrinsic value as people. On the other hand, through this fundamental activity, FES creates synergies and changes in the communities with which it interacts, through its volunteer program, the opening of most of its activities to the general public and the integration of the people welcomed in local communities and social structures. La Fundación Escuela de Solidaridad (FES) es una organización sin ánimo de lucro que inició su actividad en el año 1995 y se estableció como entidad de tipo social en el año 1997. Desde entonces, la fundación se ha centrado en el trabajo con colectivos que viven el desarraigo, la desventaja social, el maltrato o la exclusión. En especial: Madres con hijos en situación de emergencia Jóvenes en exclusión social Inmigrantes sin hogar Personas con discapacidad Adultos enfermos En general toda persona sin hogar y que necesite y desee una familia. Nuestra misión es la de dotar a los residentes con herramientas de formación y educación en valores que les permitan una integración social adecuada y mejorar sus posibilidades en el mercado laboral. Nuestras actividades ordinarias en la comunidad implican el trabajo administrativo, apoyo escolar, guardería, talleres, cocina, panadería, mantenimiento general, limpieza, jardinería, clases de idiomas, clases de informática y la organización de actividades de difusión y de ocio, entre otros. El personal está formado por seis miembros permanentes y los voluntarios colaboran con nosotros en nuestras actividades regulares. Los voluntarios también pueden llevar a cabo sus propios proyectos personales de acuerdo a las necesidades y objetivos de la fundación. FES se sustenta a través de la autogestión y gracias a la actividad cotidiana y voluntaria de los residentes de la comunidad y de sus voluntarios. En FES conviven personas de diferentes edades, países, culturas, religiones. Se crea entonces una gran casa-hogar basada en la SOLIDARIDAD como herramienta para la convivencia, la responsabilidad, la ejecución de las tareas y la comunicación. Se trata de ser para estas personas una FAMILIA, donde más allá de cubrir sus necesidades materiales, se les de cariño, apoyo emocional y un referente para el resto de su vida. El sentido último de FES es recuperar el sentido familiar de personas que, por diversas circunstancias, no han podido ni pueden experimentarlo. Se parte de un concepto de familia universal donde cualquier credo, idea, religión o convicción es aceptada e integrada plenamente, con el respeto como método de intervención y de desarrollo personal. Con estas premisas, FES acoge en un hogar a personas partiendo de una filosofía de apertura, de no poner condiciones a quien acoge en la comunidad, salvo en el caso de personas con problemas de adicción o violencia, las cuales se derivan a centros especializados. La FES acoge a personas que, por diversos motivos, se encuentran en desventaja social. Esta desventaja tienen como consecuencia que derechos y libertades básicas se vean vulnerados, lo que les dificulta participar activamente en la sociedad desencadenando un proceso de exclusión. Esta situación desencadena en precariedad laboral, déficit de formación, difícil acceso a una vivienda digna, frágiles condiciones de salud y de redes sociales y familiares, precariedad económica, entre otras. Las personas que en FES residen son en su mayoría adultos entre 18 y 30 años, dentro de este colectivo encontramos a: madres con hijos en situación de emergencia, migrantes (hoy el mayor colectivo presente), personas con discapacidad, jóvenes en exclusión social, adultos enfermos etc. También se brinda formación a profesionales del campo social, educativo, sanitario y artístico, acerca de intervenciones con los colectivos mencionados y el desarrollo de dispositivos comunitarios. Esta filosofía basada en la acogida y la aceptación incondicional produce un fenómeno educativo, de retroalimentación de los valores básicos de la fundación en el tiempo: el testimonio de superación, aprendizaje e integración de las personas con más años y experiencia en el hogar se convierte en modelo a seguir para los recién llegados. Se trataría de brindar apoyo tanto económico y material como, ante todo, emocional y comunitario a las personas que forman parte de FES con el fin de ayudarles a diseñar su proyecto vital como miembros de la sociedad, alejándolos de la exclusión y acercándolos a experiencias y vivencias que aumenten su autoestima, su sentido de pertenencia a la comunidad y mostrándoles su valor intrínseco como personas. Por otro lado, a través de esta actividad primordial, FES crea sinergias y cambios en las comunidades con las que interactúa, a través de su programa de voluntariado, la apertura de la mayoría de sus actividades al público general y la integración de las personas acogidas en las comunidades y estructuras sociales locales.

Volunteers support community members in various occupational workshops, assisting in the design and implementation of educational programs focused on values, environmental awareness, and sports. They create and run creative and educational activities such as painting workshops, crafts, and recycling initiatives, particularly engaging children. Volunteers accompany residents in workshops, coordinate activities, monitor user progress, and evaluate potential participation in different projects. They provide emotional support, develop psycho-educational initiatives, and foster social integration by promoting active involvement in community spaces. Volunteers participate in daily community meetings and training sessions, attend volunteer meetings, and share communal meals, interacting with residents during breakfast at 8:00 and lunch at 14:30. They work 35 hours per week alongside community members to strengthen solidarity and inclusion.

The organization provides accommodation in a volunteer house located within the Atarfe center. The residence offers shared rooms for 2 people communal bathrooms, with heating, hot water, and Wi-Fi. If a flight to Granada is very expensive, it is suggested to fly to Málaga or Madrid and take a bus to Granada.

The Participant profile: We are looking for a committed, proactive individual with an interest in social and community work. Applicants should be between 18 and 30 years old, possess strong communication skills, and be able to work both in a team and independently. Previous experience in volunteering or non-formal education projects is valued, as is sensitivity to inclusion, intercultural awareness, and respect for the environment. It is important that the candidate demonstrates flexibility, empathy, and a willingness to learn, and that they have at least a basic level of Spanish or English to integrate with residents and peers.

Volunteers engage in non-formal education experiences on a weekly basis, participating in workshops, cultural activities, and community initiatives that foster learning through practice. They also benefit from European-level learning opportunities thanks to involvement in international programs and exchanges. From the start, volunteers receive orientation and mentorship to guide their development, integrating these diverse experiences to build skills in social intervention, environmental awareness, and intercultural dialogue. The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment.
