About the local hosting organization

l Center d'Estudis de l'Esplai (CEE) is a non-profit organization that offers its services to the entire Balearic Islands community in the field of non-formal education and free time. It was founded in 1979 by a group of people from the world of regulated education but with extensive experience in youth work, with the aim of meeting the needs in the field of non-formal education and in the training and education of future monitors and free time educators. The CEE was recognized by the Ministry of Culture in 1979 and in 1982 by the General Directorate of Youth of the Balearic Government, being registered with number 2 in the register of Free Time Training Schools of the Balearic Islands. The main objectives of the entity are the training of free time monitors and directors and the stimulation of children and young people in free time based on the values ​​of non-formal education. The entity is dedicated to organizing leisure and free time activities for children and young people throughout the year and especially for the summer campaign such as camps, summer schools, mini colonies, work camps. Collaborate with municipalities in the organization of specific activities such as gyncanas, workshops for children and young people, neighborhood parties ... Also in collaboration with the educational centers and the associations of mothers and fathers of students (AMIPAS), it is responsible for the coordination and organization of extra-curricular activities for pre-school and primary school students. On the other hand, it promotes training in the field of non-formal education, carrying out the organization of different activities, including courses for free-time monitors and directors and cycles of workshops on social skills and interculturality. It provides the young people of Palma with information on the European mobility opportunities offered by the Erasmus + program (youth exchanges, seminars, courses) and the European Solidarity Corps (volunteering and occupational branch). l Centre d’Estudis de l’Esplai (CEE) es una entidad sin animo de lucro que ofrece sus servicios a toda la comunidad de las Islas Baleares en el campo de la educación no formal y en el tiempo libre. Fue fundada en 1979 por un grupo de personas provenientes del mundo de la enseñanza reglada pero con amplia experiencia en el trabajo juvenil, con el objetivo de cubrir las necesidades en el ámbito de la educación no formal y en la capacitación y formación de futuros monitores y educadores de tiempo libre. El CEE fue reconocido por el Ministerio de Cultura en 1979 y en 1982 por la Dirección General de Juventud del Gobierno Balear, siendo inscrita con el nº 2 en el registro de Escuelas de Formación de Tiempo Libre de las Islas Baleares. Los objetivos principales de la entidad son la formación de los monitores y directores de tiempo libre y la dinamización infantil y juvenil en el tiempo libre basada en los valores de la educación no formal. La entidad se dedica a la organización de actividades de ocio y tiempo libre para niños y jóvenes a lo largo del año y especialmente para la campaña de verano como campamentos, escuelas de verano, mini colonias, campos de trabajo. Colabora con ayuntamientos en la organización de actividades puntuales como gyncanas, talleres para niños y jóvenes, fiestas de barrio.... También en colaboración con los centros educativos y las asociaciones de madres y padres de alumnos (AMIPAS) se encarga de la coordinación y organización de las actividades extra-escolares para alumnos de educación infantil y primaria. Por otro lado impulsa la formación en el ámbito de la educación no formal, llevando a cabo la organización de diferentes actividades entre las cuales cursos de monitores y directores de tiempo libre y ciclos de talleres de habilidades sociales e interculturalidad. Proporciona a los jóvenes de Palma información sobre las oportunidades de movilidad europea ofrecidas por el programa Erasmus+ (intercambios juveniles, seminarios, cursos) y el Cuerpo Europeo de Solidaridad (voluntariado y rama ocupacional).

Presentation of the program

The volunteers will take part in the daily work of the no formal education summer school for children aged 3-12, helping youth workers to carry out the activities program for children. The summer school is from monday to friday. The volunteers will help in the preparation of materials, organization and development of the educative leisure time activities and workshops for children. They will organize a specific workshop about Europe. They will also offer information about European Solidarity Corps volunteering and international mobility opportunities to youngsters.

About the accommodation

Accomodation: Shared room for 4 people in a camp- house, a place for sleepaway camp for children and youngsters. Transport: The summer school is close to the lodging place.

About the food

Food: The volunteer can use the kitchen of the house for preparing his/her own meals. He/she will receive money for buying food.

Requirements

The Participant profile: 18-30 years old. Kind and responsable, open-minded, active and with sense of initiative. Motivated for and with some experience to work with children. Flexible and capable of sharing the room with other ESC volunteers, and of living in the camp house with participants from other activities. Full of respect for the rules of camp house (NO smoking, NO alcohol). Spanish and English speaking would be better.

Extra information

Taking part in the volunteering activities, volunteers will develop capacities of organizing and animating leisure time activities for children. They will improve communication skills, development of creativity and sense of initiative. At the beginning, the volunteers will receive a training about the different tasks they'll carry out during their project.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
