About the local hosting organization
Casa Kuna is a non-profit organization that has been carrying out its activities for the past four years. Its objective is to provide training to individuals in vulnerable situations to create opportunities for their comprehensive social inclusion.
This project stems from the need to promote social cohesion in the city, adopting a social, multicultural, and ecological approach. To achieve this, Casa Kuna conducts training activities in various trades, innovatively ensuring meaningful learning experiences for individuals with obstacles or low qualifications. This, in turn, promotes employment and the creation of socio-occupational pathways, accumulating valuable experience.
Additionally, Casa Kuna facilitates intercultural and intergenerational mediation processes with the neighborhood residents and others in need. In this regard, it also promotes spaces for psychosocial support, such as self-help groups and recreational and cultural activities that enhance community well-being. Furthermore, it fosters community awareness regarding diverse realities related to gender, religion, migration, etc. The organization provides training in these subjects.
Casa Kuna advocates for the reduction of environmental impact by decreasing waste through transformation and circular economy principles. This focus is integrated into all the training programs.
The organization is committed to social innovation, developing strategies for efficient and effective intervention.
Presentation of the program
WE INFORM YOU THAT WE WILL ONLY REVIEW THE PROFILES OF THOSE WHO FILL OUT THIS FORM. THANK YOU! https://forms.gle/5e8BQjbD45f9S63h7
Casa Kuna is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable people and promoting social inclusion through a social, multicultural, and ecological approach. It offers non-formal training in trades such as sewing, woodworking, marketing, and natural cosmetics to enhance employability. Its initiative “Re-Made in Granada” creates sustainable products through upcycling. Casa Kuna also organizes cultural activities addressing migration, racism, and social exclusion. It manages a sales space focused on circular economy and supports volunteering, engaging over 30 participants last year. Additionally, it promotes intercultural mediation, community dialogue, and provides psycho-social support through individual and group activities.
About the accommodation
Volunteers will stay in a fully furnished apartment in Granada’s Sacromonte, with private kitchens and individual rooms. The space balances shared and private areas to support community living and personal reflection. Weekly food and a daily €6 grocery budget are provided. Sacromonte offers panoramic views of the Alhambra and rich cultural heritage. Travel costs will be reimbursed based on the ESC program’s distance calculator. Volunteers will be picked up at Granada’s bus, train station, or airport. For cheaper flights, consider Málaga or Madrid plus bus to Granada.
About the leisure
Volunteers engage in non-formal training, workshop facilitation, event promotion, and organizational tasks. In “Re-Made in Granada,” they design and produce upcycled clothing, organize fashion events, and promote products. Cultural activities include managing agendas, catering, and media content creation. At the sales space, volunteers handle customer service, inventory, and social media. They also recruit and support short-term volunteers, assist in intercultural mediation, and may observe psycho-social support sessions. Volunteers participate in research projects.
Requirements
The Participant profile: We are looking for proactive, organized volunteers with an interest in community and social work. They should have skills to facilitate workshops, support the organization and promotion of activities, and handle administrative tasks such as preparing agendas, summaries, and basic graphic design. Creativity is valued to assist in designing and promoting products within recycling and sustainable fashion initiatives. Communication and customer service skills are important to support sales spaces and cultural events, as well as the ability to manage social media and audiovisual documentation. An interest in intercultural mediation, the ability to observe and propose community activities, and sensitivity to participate respectfully in psychosocial support are also required. Additionally, volunteers are expected to collaborate on research projects and work well in teams, fostering an inclusive and enriching environment.
