Presentation of the program

Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming space where young people can grow, discover their strengths, develop their potential, and learn responsibility at their own pace. The volunteer will act as an assistant youth worker, supporting daily operations during weekday open evenings by developing trust through informal communication, active listening, and participating in casual activities like games, cooking, and conversations. Key responsibilities include assisting the team with tournaments, movie nights, workshops, seasonal events, sleepovers, and youth-led initiatives, supporting summer camps, outdoor activities, and excursions during school holidays, as well as assisting youth with homework or practical skills. Additionally, the volunteer will be encouraged to design and lead their own personal project, such as a club, workshop, or special event, based on their unique interests and the needs of the youth centre. Looking to host 2 volunteers.

About the accommodation

As a volunteer in Vilnius, you will have the opportunity to be hosted in a comfortable flat alongside other like-minded volunteers who share your passion for community service. You will have your own private room, providing a space for rest and relaxation. You will also get: - a monthly bus card; - a monthly stipend for food and pocket money; - a team of dedicated professionals, including a mentor for personal support, a project coordinator to help you get the most out of your experience, and a tutor from the hosting organization to guide you every step of the way.

About the leisure

Maximize your potential and make the most of your volunteer experience with our comprehensive support system! As a volunteer, you will receive On-Arrival and Mid-Term trainings organized by the National Agency, as well as regular meetings with our dedicated Coordinating Organization. We understand that reflection is key to personal growth, which is why hosting organisation offers regular reflection sessions. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment to share your experiences, learn from one another, and grow both personally and professionally.

Requirements

The Participant profile: We are looking for volunteers who are curious about working with young people in an open, informal and inclusive youth space. The volunteer does not need to be a professional youth worker, but should be willing to learn, observe, communicate and slowly become part of the everyday life of Vilnius Open Youth Centre "MES". The ideal volunteer is someone who feels comfortable in a dynamic environment, where every day can be different. The youth space welcomes young people with different moods, backgrounds, interests, needs and levels of motivation. Because of this, we are looking for a person who is patient, flexible and open-minded.
Deadline: 30/06/2026 23:59

Extra information

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
