About the local hosting organization
The Regional Youth Information Centre (CRIJ) Occitanie is a non-profit organization, member of the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA).
Our aim is to support young people in order to be independent by offering them essential information for their daily life, following the European Youth Information Charter.
Our responsibility is to inform young people and professionals (such as animators, social workers, teachers, etc.) as well as parents, in Occitanie Region, south of France.
The fields of our action are :
• Help young people in their first steps to enter the world of work. Inform young people about trades, training, local economic prospects in order to facilitate their career choices
• Facilitate the first independent accommodation by offering information and services to find accommodation, and properly manage a small budget
• Support young people in their knowledge of administration organization, specific social rights, and in their first administrative procedures
• Encourage the involvment of young people, their inclusion in a civic approach, and support them in the search for information for their projects
• Help young people to realize their mobility projects, in particular internationally, by offering them a connection with specialized actors, and by supporting them in their projects
• Contributing to the quality of life of young people through actions of prevention, health education or by facilitating their access to culture, leisure and holidays
• Facilitate the use of information media through digital, media and image education
Everyone is welcome to ask our professionals or search on their own for information at no charge, without scheduled appointments, using their anonymity, in individualized interviews or in groups.
CRIJ writes and distributes information guides, such as the “Guide of First Housing”, “Destination: Europe (and a little further on)”, and the “Guide of First Job”. All year long there is a big variety of workshops (CV writing, introduction to computer science, etc.). We also organize events such as the "Summer Job Exchange" and the "International Mobility Day".
CRIJ provides information in education, employment, volunteerism and everyday life issues in countries all around the world.
It is also a member of the Eurodesk network, official network for the EU Commission.
French Eurodesk members guide their users in their research for financial aid (European programs, national and regional grants) and provide relevant information on the possibilities of traveling in Europe, whatever their project is :
- Education
- Professional training
- Internships
- Employment
- Exchanges
- Youth meetings and initiatives, etc.
CRIJ also proposes individualized interviews in order to get the young people to discuss their project of mobility, thus enabling them to have all the tools in hand to realize it.
Presentation of the program
Based between Béziers and Bédarieux in the department of Hérault and more precisely in the Region of Occitanie, the « Communauté des communes » of the Avant-Monts which gathers 25 villages (approximately 26 000 inhabitants) is looking for 2 volunteers.
The Youth service's purpose is :
- to accompany every young person in the research of information for their project,
- to encourage them to finalize their project, especially their international mobility project thanks to our two labels : « Eurodesk », the official European Commission’s network and « Point Europe » with Europe Direct network.
- to allow everyone to have access to entertainment, culture, information for the youth, employment and formation, and Europe in general.
Thanks to a partnership with Infojeunes Occitanie and some other organisations in the area, the volunteers will intervene also in the whole region Occitanie. Their mission will be to promote the values of citizenship and intercultural exchanges.
