About the local hosting organization

Le GIP de Limoges (groupement d'intérêt public) est une structure publique dédiée au portage de projets et adossée au Rectorat de Limoges. Dans le cadre de la création des régions académiques depuis 2021, le GIP de Limoges est devenu le GIP centralisateur des projets ERASMUS+ pour la région académique Nouvelle Aquitaine. A ce titre, il porte le projet CES LEAD au nom de la région académique. La région académique Nouvelle-Aquitaine est composée de trois académies : Bordeaux, Limoges et Poitiers. La rectrice de la région académique Nouvelle-Aquitaine fixe les orientations stratégiques et assure la coordination des politiques éducatives de la région académique. Ses missions principales sont : - Accompagnement des établissements scolaires en leur fournissant des ressources pédagogiques, des outils pédagogiques, des formations pour les enseignants, ainsi que des conseils et un accompagnement dans le développement de leurs projets éducatifs - Promotion de l'innovation pédagogique en soutenant la mise en place de nouvelles pratiques pédagogiques, ainsi que la mise en œuvre de projets éducatifs novateurs. Les groupes cibles de la région académique Nouvelle-Aquitaine sont les élèves de tous les niveaux d'enseignement (de la maternelle au lycée et post-bac), les enseignants, les établissements scolaires, les parents d'élèves, ainsi que les partenaires institutionnels et économiques impliqués dans le domaine de l'éducation.

Presentation of the program

Collège Albert Thomas is a school of approximately 350 pupils. It includes a specialised unit for inclusive education (ULIS). The school is strongly engaged in European and international projects: Erasmus+ label, eTwinning projects, Jean Monnet label. It benefits from an exceptional natural environment (forests, lakes, heritage sites) conducive to projects linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. Égletons is a town of 4,000 inhabitants located in the heart of the Plateau de Millevaches, in the Corrèze department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine). It lies 45 km from Ussel and 65 km from Brive-la-Gaillarde. Getting there: • Railway station in Égletons (Limoges–Aurillac line) • Regional coach service from Ussel and Brive • Nearest airports: Limoges (1h30) and Clermont-Ferrand (1h45)

About the accommodation

The volunteer will be accommodated in a furnished room located immediately adjacent to the school. The room is equipped with: bedding, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and Wi-Fi access. A starter kit (duvet and pillow) can be provided. A shared kitchen and sports facilities are also available. The volunteer may take their meals in the school canteen on days of attendance. Meals are covered as part of the mission. Outside school hours, the volunteer has access to a shared kitchen to prepare meals, complemented by a refrigerator and microwave oven in their room

About the leisure

The European Solidarity Corps volunteer supports the teaching teams through complementary activities promoting European openness, interculturality and civic engagement. They may co-facilitate workshops, participate in classes to share their culture, and contribute to educational projects, in particular around the Sustainable Development Goals. They take part in school life by contributing to events (ErasmusDays, Europe Day…), communications (website) and the preparation of mobilities. Their involvement forms part of collaborative projects with pupils, teachers and local partners.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
