About the local hosting organization

Our foundation develops projects, services, employment and actions regarding the problems faced by humanity in areas such as democracy, pluralistic culture, multiculturalism, freedom, environment, climate, fair sharing, digital transformation, migration, economy, education, children's and women's rights. In field studies, it adopts methods based on creating solutions with the sides of the subjects. Efforts to reveal the potential of societies arising from their cultural and human wealth; It aims to contribute to employment with the models, products and projects it will produce and develop, and most importantly, with its advanced awareness of democracy, environmentalist, universal humanitarian values and multiculturalism, and qualified manpower. For this purpose, units and commissions involving hundreds of volunteers and employees, a research center, two sports clubs, two dormitories, a sports center, an art center, a media center, a library, a bookstore, a foundation forest, a charity center, and three orphan coordination centers. It conducts studies for all segments of the society, including the disadvantaged and the disabled. In the corporate functioning of our foundation, decisions are taken with a democratic approach, the process is managed with the board of directors, units, commissions, coordinators and professional managers. The majority of the activities carried out are aimed at children, women, young people, disabled people and the needy segment of society, but it aims to fight against discrimination and radicalization of excluded young people.

Presentation of the program

Are you ready to make a difference, grow personally, and explore Turkish culture? As a volunteer, you’ll become an active part of our vibrant community. Integrate into local society, connect with people, inspire disadvantaged youth with your background, and learn from diverse cultural experiences. Learn Turkish through our language courses to better engage in daily life. Engage with local students by sharing your experiences, inspiring them, and supporting educational activities or dive into the world of media in our media center—perfect for those who want to develop their skills in content creation, video editing, photography, and digital storytelling. We also have a large professional TV studio and two radio stations, where volunteers can demonstrate their abilities in broadcasting, audio production, and other relevant media fields. Enjoy our sports and arts facilities, including a gym, swimming pool, basketball court, and art courses in guitar, piano, violin, and bağlama.

About the accommodation

Volunteers will stay in shared rooms (2 per room), with boys and girls accommodated separately. The accommodation is safe, comfortable, and fully equipped. It is located right next to our foundation. Three meals are provided daily, or volunteers can cook using the fully equipped kitchen, which includes a variety of ingredients. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the 2023 ESC distance bands. Visa and residence permit expenses will be covered. Airport transfers are provided upon arrival and departure. Volunteers will receive health insurance from Henner.

About the leisure

Develop key skills such as creativity, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. Take part in induction sessions to become familiar with Turkish culture, local community values, and project activities. Participants will gain project coordination experience by taking active roles in the projects. They will also benefit from Turkish language courses and English-speaking clubs. Training includes media production using our media studio and radio stations, as well as creative workshops in art, music, and sports coaching. Volunteers will receive continuous guidance and much more.

The Participant profile: It is fundamental to: Have active and effective communication skills; Be capable of adapting to innovations and changes; Have digital competences and use technology effectively; Have a high sense of social responsibility; Be sensitive to individuals at different levels; Respect people from different cultures; Respect other volunteers; Have different skills or interests (arts, sports, language, environment, media, science, etc.); Be willing to help where needed and up for a challenge!

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
