Presentation of the program

"Unity Skills Lab" is a one-month summer team volunteering activity that involve you intensely into the life of local young people and kids in Tryavna and Veliko Tarnovo. You will take part in: Participate in a "School for volunteers" together with local young people; Organisation and participation in two community festivals; Organisation and facilitation of a summer camp for kids aged 8-11; Express your creativity through street art; Explore Bulgaria and its nature and cuisine.

About the accommodation

Accommodation: Main accommodation is at the SOS Children’s Village in Tryavna, where you will share a room with one more person. Shared kitchen and living room. Nice yard, basketball and football ground. Lake nearby. Transport: We will support you in organising your individual trip to the final destination. Food: Volunteers receive pocket money and money for food and they take responsibility for their own food. During the "School for volunteers" food will be provided. Electricity, water and Internet within the accommodation are covered, too.

About the leisure

Firstly, we will all begin with a 3-day "School for volunteers" - a gathering of foreign volunteers and local ones, who are supporting our initiatives. We will introduce our work to you in details and go deeper into the concept of volunteering and how young people could be more active, initiative and helpful for society and their local communities. Within the month you will organise and lead yourself a summer camp - this will teach you a lot about kids, teaching methodologies and approaches. It will develop your creativity and cooperations within the team.

The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
