About the local hosting organization

In the heart of Cuneo's Bormida Valley, the Alta Langa Cultural Park spreads and promotes the knowledge of the territory in all aspects: from history to literature, from architecture to food and wine. The aim of the association is to counter the growing marginality of the villages and communities of the Alta Langa, creating events and experiences to encourage tourism and promoting training activities related to the territory. The Cultural Park Altalanga is a territorial non-profit organization that is headquartered and operates in the Piedmont, in Monesiglio, the heart of the Alta Langa of Cuneo. Our association aims to: • Increase awareness of the Alta Langa area; • Help to increase the development with a commitment to counter the growing marginalization of this territory; • Promote the recovery of cultural heritage that is linked to both the immaterial architectural heritage and materials used in artisan craft culture. The association is aimed towards the youth, both residing in the region from other regions or European countries, to broaden the knowledge and ability to interact with and gain employment. The core activity aims to create a virtuous circle of new and exciting incentives to combat marginalization and the increasing depopulation of the valleys. It also caters to local communities to involve them in projects and create a new enthusiasm, in order to propose and share future developments. We always remember the sentence: "If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange them, then you and I will always have an apple for one. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange them, then we will both have two ideas".G. B. Shaw We work to enhance the value of the territory we think of the landscape, changed from terraced vineyards to a harsh and beautiful nature, sometimes spectacular; of the river area, returned alive and rich in flora and fauna; we think of the many historical buildings, castles and churches of valuable value, scattered throughout the territory and often forgotten and at risk of irreparable damage, which have marked and remember not only the local history but also the history of Italy and Europe; let's think of a land rich in important historical figures, literature, traditions, beliefs and popular tales that deserve to be remembered and told; let's think of a land rich in genuine and simple things, and let's think of us, the inhabitants of this part of the Langa, simple people, sometimes a little shady, who have always been tenacious in work and solidarity. For this reason we propose, through a network of solidarity that unites several towns in this part of the Langa, the upper Valbormida cuneese, to create for ourselves a better environment in which to live, from a landscape point of view but above all aimed at improving social relations: sharing one's own history and cultural initiatives bring people together, improve communication, create the conditions for a community and shared social life, and we also aim to bring cultural tourism to the area, people who love history, nature and traditions, who know how to give value to this culture by integrating it with new cultures and needs and bring new stimuli for a local economy that has much to offer. Being so deeply involved in the community Langhe area, focusing on local youth activities, fostering the develpoment of our area, offering educational opportunities and support for young people, implementing their ideas in our community are the main drivers that pushed us to get into this application and want to join the ESC program. We want indeed to involve the future international volunteers in running the youth activities, supporting their peers, bringing Europe and their culture in a new context, proposing activities for young people in the community, introducing elements of their culture in Italy supporting the integrations process and the inclusion of everyone in their activities. This would lead us, our partners, our territory and our land to a next level, absorbing international and intercultural elements, giving opportunities to young people coming from abroad to experience our area, geting a renewed recongnition, new young, new ideas and initiatives. In these last years of turbulent changes, we want to be active part of it, by gathering young people from different backgrounds and creating space for activities where they can participate together and have a safe space to make them real, providing supportive learning environment where young people are free to explore new opportunities, improve their competences and skills having the opportunity to put them in practice immediatelly being the initiators of a change in our land, local youth and partners, bringing Europe to Alta Langa and Alta Langa to Europe.

Requirements

The Participant profile: While this is a volunteering opportunity, we are looking for dedicated and hard-working individuals — this is not a vacation. We seek proactive and creative volunteers who can adapt to life in a remote, isolated village in the hills of Alta Langa. Candidates should be motivated to contribute to the organization’s goals, share our values, and engage actively with the local community. We welcome flexible young people with an interest in culture, the arts, tourism, event organization and support, social media, youth work, and other related fields. The ideal volunteer is a team player who thrives in an international environment and can bring both initiative and fresh ideas to our projects. Here, you are the maker of your own experience — we provide the space, the resources, and the opportunity to grow, but it is your engagement and curiosity that will make it truly meaningful.
Deadline: 06/09/2025 16:05

The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
