Presentation of the program

As a VolunteerIKS, you will be a crucial part of the efforts led by Association IKS to alleviate the earthquake's consequences and the continuing pandemic's impact in Petrinja and Sisak Moslavina county . We are actively involved in various initiatives and we need your help to rebuild lives and community in earthquake-stricken Petrinja and beyond. Our diverse team tackles poverty, social exclusion, and pandemic challenges through volunteering. You would work with on local lever with disabled persons (blind and visually impaired, mentally ill, seniors and local youth. You will organize workshops, sports, creative sessions, and cultural exchanges. Part of your role is promoting solidarity, inclusion, and diversity. Reconnect communities and support us and the local partners in rising the quality of life for vulnerable community groups. Learn and grow alongside experienced mentors. Adapt to post-pandemic realities, bridge language gaps, and develop your social and youth work skills.

About the accommodation

During your stay in Petrinja you'll be accommodated in the ''volunteer flat'' that has shared bedrooms(2 persons per room), kitchen, living room, bathroom,3 balconies and WIFI . All house utensils are provided by the hosting organization (towels, bed sheets and similar).The apartment is located 7-10 minutes by foot from the main working premises. For transportation to/from activities we use the company van or local buses. You'll receive a monthly allowance - pocket money and living costs to manage your food and daily life. All costs of transport, accommodation and living are covered by the HO.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
