About the local hosting organization
We are a nursery (of 2 to 5 years) and a primary (6 to 12 years) education center located in the town of Alzira, Valencia. Alzira is a small city with great cultural diversity and traditional Spanish character and life.
Our center is located on the outskirts, in a school zone next to an institute, a university and another nursery. The center is close to lower- and middle-class working class neighborhoods. Furthermore, it must be said that among our students and family profiles we have both, underprivileged and middle-class families.
We are a family center, and we want the educational community to work together to educate our students with contact from their environment whilst also trying to generate meaningful experiences. Our approach offers educational opportunities that make it possible to eliminate inequalities and also train competent individuals for their future.
Given that the student body of our center is very diverse, for us it is a challenge and at the same time an opportunity to educate with an inclusive approach. Our projects and activities try to respond to the needs of the students and the community to fill the inequality of opportunities and guarantee a comprehensive training.
Thus, working with new technologies aims to provide students with the necessary capacities and abilities within a technological society.
Also, our main objective is to raise awareness and respect nature. Thus, climate change, organic farming techniques, knowledge of the closest habitats, ... are a priority that dictates our day to day life.
Another great objective is the encouragement of healthy habits. We understand that the knowledge of personal health is essential. Both, physical and mental, are important. That is why we work both on creating hygienic habits that prevent diseases (COVID ...) as well as physical or mental habits that create a safe environment.
In addition, we teach students to be critical of what surrounds them and know how to face life by making judicious decisions. Therefore, through art we offer reflective experiences and forms of communication that complement their training.
All these objectives are developed from a collaborative and participatory approach since we want students to acquire strategies for social participation, to be active in the future as citizens. For this reason, our organization includes different participation tools for both the students and the educational community. Giving everyone a voice is a priority.
Therefore, our center is committed to developing projects that promote critical thinking, citizen participation, active life and healthy lifestyles, respect for nature as well as equal opportunities for all our students.
With the request for the Quality Label, we intend to consolidate our European vision of education and the society which we live in. We intend to open a window to the outside, to broaden views and encourage the experience of enriching opportunities. We want to continue creating an identity where the international dimension is present and is an essential component.
The integration of people of different nationalities, with diverse experiences and visions enriches and is fundamental to continue our path towards an education that fosters European values. We want to create an international perspective in our students and collaborate towards the training and participation of youth in enriching projects and experiences. We believe that the youth have a lot to say in society and it is important to give them the tools and experiences to participate.
With the help of a volunteer we want them to be integrated into our day-to-day work collaborating in the different projects and in the different activities, always taking into account their well-being, priorities and preferences to boost their motivation, participation and their integration in the educational community.
Presentation of the program
