Presentation of the program
The project will be developed in an Educational Center where the volunteer will help professionals in activities with children with and without special needs. The volunteer will support the staff in the organisation of small study groups in which young people do their homework, search additional information and are helped to overcome barriers to learning.
The volunteer will also be asked to take part in organizing various workshops and atelier: the workshops are places in which young people "learn by doing" and "do in order to learn" (e.g. corporal expression, the creation of objects, recycling, music and artistic activities).
About the accommodation
In the same city and period we will coordinate 6 volunteers that will work in different organisations. They will work in a total of 32-35 hours a week and have two consecutive days off per week (normally Saturday and Sunday) and two day holidays per month to be used according to the volunteer’s needs but always to be agreed with the supervisor. They will live in a flat with other ESC volunteers and will share a double room. The volunteers will have a bicycle to move freely in the city and receive money for the food so they can buy what they prefer.
About the leisure
The volunteers will have the opportunity to learn how to deal with children and youth, also with fewer opportunities, they will be trained and will have the opportunity to experiment how to work in a team, how to organize and manage social projects, how to be active citizens.
They will be offered an italian course to improve/learn the local language and will have the opportunity to attend some trainings about multiculture, volunteering, etc. and to meet other volunteers hosted in the same city or in close cities.

The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
What do we provide ?
Before applying for this volunteering project, you need to enroll yourself at European Solidarity Corps Platform (https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity_en) and specify your European Solidarity Corps Participant Number (PRN).
