About the local hosting organization

The ADRET (Agency Development Rural Europe and Territories) is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 whose mission as resource center is to disseminate information on the programs and policies of the European Union and to develop actions as part of its mission of public information service of the European Union on three departments of the Occitanie Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region. Since 2005, ADRET is the host structure of a Europe Direct Information Center (after having been a European Rural Carrefour from 1994 to 2004). The Europe Direct Information Center mission is to convey information and advice about European Union’s policies, to promote actively local and regional debate about the European Union, to allow the European institutions to disseminate local and regional information and give the public the possibility to send feedback to the European Union institutions. For 5 years, ADRET has developed many actions to promote active European citizenship, regarding mobility especially for young people. ADRET - Europe Direct Pyrenees Information Center has been accredited in 2015 both a sending and coordination EVS structure, and in 2018, the structure has been accredited as a sending and coordination structure for three years in the European Solidarity Corps framework. Since the end of 2018, ADRET is also in charge of animation of departemental network of european and international mobility in Pyrenees-Orientales.

Presentation of the program

We propose an individual volunteering mission to promote active European citizenship, values and fundamental rights, to participate in the construction of a Europe that is ever closer, democratic, sustainable, adapted to the digital era, open to the world, united in its cultural diversity. The volunteer will contribute to information, animation and communication actions on the European Union (values and citizenship, mobility and engagement, priorities, democratic participation, recovery and resilience...). Particular emphasis will be placed on the priorities of the European Union. About the accommodation

The volunteer will be hosted in Perpignan (prefecture of the department) in a furnished flat located near the train and bus station and close to the city center (access to a supermarket, bank, post office, doctors, pharmacy, bakeries). The accommodation will be shared with another European volunteer from our consortium which will facilitate integration. Single room, shared kitchen and bathroom. Yearly card bus transport is delivered by the structure.

About the food

We provide a food allowance (9€/day) so that the volunteer can cook independently or buy snacks outside.

Requirements

The Participant profile: ADRET is vigilant about the accessibility of the mission, particularly for young people with fewer opportunities. The volunteer’s curiosity about Europe, the desire to discover another country and to live the European Union's motto "United in diversity", the desire to learn and develop transversal skills and dynamism will be essential. Applications that reflect the objectives of the ESC and its values will also be favored. We want the volunteer to be able to support facilitation and interventions and therefore be able to express themselves in front of an audience, but also to generate enthusiasm to make the interactions lively. The volunteer will also have to be flexible and adaptable given the diversity of the target audience (schoolchildren, students, general public, etc.). If the volunteer does not feel comfortable but is very motivated to develop his/her skills (public speaking...), we will accompany him/her little by little in this process. Finally, we expect the volunteer to be rigorous, particularly in terms of respecting the proposed timetable and schedule. We do not expect the young person to have a good command of French and English (although basic knowledge will be appreciated), but a curiosity and a desire to learn in order to develop their skills. Deadline: 19/07/2025 00:00

Extra information

The volunteer will be fully integrated into the team of ADRET EUROPE DIRECT Pyrenees and will be considered as a full member of the association. The tasks proposed to the volunteer will bring a European added value to the traditional activities of the structure. Language courses will be offered to help the volunteer learn French. We will provide a logbook, set up regular meetings and devote time to the personal project.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
