About the local hosting organization
Stichting UcDean is a foundation that aims at improving knowledge and understanding of the new and future EU member-states in Central and Eastern Europe. The foundation focuses at young people, students and young professionals from The Netherlands, aged 16 - 35. Stichting UcDean has been a sending and coordinating organization for Erasmus+ EVS projects since 2012, and is a supporting organization for European Solidarity Corps projects. We also facilitate international trainings and youth exchanges. Stichting UcDean moreover organizes study trips to countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Caucasus.
Presentation of the program
"Voice of Youth" is a volunteering project of 61–90 days where Dutch volunteers join forces with Moroccan youth in Larache to deliver workshops that empower the local community. These include digital skills, cultural exchange, and creative activities like mural painting or theater and more. The project aims to give a voice to youth by providing them with practical tools, self-confidence, and the chance to express themselves. It also promotes intercultural learning and collaboration between Dutch and Moroccan participants. Through non-formal education and teamwork, Voice of Youth helps build connections, inspire change, and create a positive social impact in Larache.
By hosting the Voice of Youth project, Larache offers a meaningful space for international volunteers to work directly with local children and youth, support their personal development, and encourage new ways of learning.
About the accommodation
You will be housed in an appartement in the same building as the activity space, but on a separate floor keeping your accommodation private and well separated from your workplace. The kitchen, bathroom and living room are shared with other volunteers. Depending on the amount of volunteers present at the moment you may have to share your bedroom with a volunteer of the same gender. You will find all facilities you need within walking distance.
You'll receive a monthly budget for food to do groceries and cook with your flatmates or by yourself.
About the leisure
Language classes in Darija (Moroccan Arabic) will be provided, which you can practice further during the workshops with the youth and in your everyday life going to the market, bakery, etc. People are very hospitable and easy to approach. The working language of the project is English and you will always be supported by a local volunteer to translate where needed.
Your mentor will support your development in pedagogy, organisation skills and offer coaching based on your learning goals.
