About the local hosting organization
Fundación “Asociación Mi Rancho Proyecto Los 2 Patitos” aims to create a change in three different areas:
1. Initial education: to contribute and develop in children capacities that will let them acquire an integral development.
2. Nutrition and health: to develop byo-psychosocial wellbeing in children.
3. Protection: to contribute in improving the quality of relationship with their progenitors and their children.
The house of Girls and Boys “Los 2 Patitos” is divided into two blocks according the ages:
- kindergarten - covers the age range of 6 months to 5 years old
- assisted study classrom - covers the age range of 6 years old to 10 years old. It covers the necessities of girls and boys who go to the school, but need help because of learning needs or because of the family characteristics.
Presentation of the program
The project is developed in three main areas:
The first one is carried out directly on the streets of Santa Cruz, with the objective of giving back to our target population a full place as an actor-subject, it is about getting these people to leave the streets and make a change of life.
The second area of work takes place in the installations of ‘Mi Rancho’ and involves a de-habituation of their risk situation and adaptation to their new life, normalizing new habits: food, hygiene, health, leisure, etc. and beginning to establish new affective links.
The third area, once the adaptation has been overcome and secure bonds have been created that provide stability, has the objective of overcoming the situation of exclusion of children and youngsters.
Depending on the age and the process the kid is going through, these last two areas are developed in different spaces.
Volunteer's tasks
In “Los patitos”, the volunteer will support the classroom teacher with the following activities:
-Support for children’s exit and entry times.
-Support at meal times: breakfasts, lunches, snacks and dinners.
-Support in the activities that take place during recess with children
-Support in the daily classes of the room.
At Mi Rancho, there are different timetables in each house, according to the age of the children living in the project.
The activities in the project are varied, for example, they have art classes, football and educational clubs.

Requirements
Our volunteers are an important piece in our projects, because of their commitment, their knowledge, their fresh air and their different points of view. Along with the staff they form a team that serves our town, allowing us to achieve our objectives. Volunteering is a life experience that generates change both in the person and in the environment when they return to their country of origin.
Even though the volunteer’s step is ephemeral, because their stay is limited with an arriving and departing date, they always remain in our memories and in the hearts of the people with whom they have lived.
The requirements to access volunteering in our organization are the following:
- be older than 18
- be emotionally mature
- be able to work as a team member
- be responsible
- have a lot of desire to learn new things
