About the local hosting organization

MTAA was founded in the year 2000 based on the Kenya Session Paper No 4 of 1997. The paper states that; Awareness about AIDS among Kenyans was high, but not matched by comparable behavior change due to diverse socio-cultural, and personal factors.

MTAA envisions a generation free from HIV infection hence is focused on addressing socio-cultural practices that fuel the spread of HIV infection such as wife inheritance, funeral rites among others through Behavior Change and Communication programs. We trust that promoting positive behavior change among HIV positive and negative people is the best approach to ensure the pandemic is addressed and as a result, we educate Men, Young couples, discordant couples, widows, Youth and Adolescents to embrace positive behavior and unlearn negative behavior.
Empowering older couples, young couples, HIV discordant couples, widows, youth and adolescents with knowledge and skills pertaining to the retrogressive socio-cultural practices that fuel the spread of HIV infection to mitigate their vulnerability to HIV and extreme poverty through strategies that will enable them mould their children at the household level.
