About the local hosting organization
“Los Pompas” is an organization but also a community theatre group which
spent the past 20 years using theatre, music, and visual arts as powerful tools for
connection. Over two decades, the group has cultivated inclusive spaces where
creativity and collaboration are at the heart of every project, inviting participation
from people of all ages—from children to adults. Their mission is to strengthen
community ties by providing a platform where diverse artistic expressions become a
means for connection, reflection, and meaningful social transformation.
Presentation of the program
Improving and restoring the scenography of the plays: restoring masks, sewing
costumes, arranging furniture from the set
Preparing spaces before performances: Volunteers help organize and arrange the
different areas of the theater, such as the stage, audience areas, and hallways,
ensuring everything is ready for activities and performances.
Restoring and maintaining scenery: Volunteers help in repairing and maintaining
the scenic elements, ensuring they are in good condition for use in performances.
This includes painting, fixing, and adjusting stage structures.
Organizing the bar area: Volunteers help maintain the bar area clean and
organized, ensuring tables and chairs are in order and products are properly
arranged for service.
Inventory management: Volunteers manage the inventory of the bar, keeping track
of stock such as drinks, snacks, and other products, and ensuring enough supplies
are available for each event.
Preparing workshop areas: Volunteers are responsible for preparing the spaces
where weekly workshops will take place.
Setting up materials for workshops: Volunteers assist in organizing and setting up
any materials, props, or equipment needed for the workshops
Coordinating with workshop facilitators: Volunteers communicate with the
workshop leaders beforehand to understand their specific needs and ensure that
the space is appropriately prepared.
Managing workshop transitions: After each workshop, volunteers help transition
the space to prepare for the next one. This involves clearing away materials,
resetting the space, and ensuring everything is in place for the next group of
participants.
About the location
Parque Patricios is a historic neighborhood in southern Buenos Aires, once an
industrial hub but now a growing technological district. It is home to the Parque
de los Patricios, a green space, and has deep cultural ties to tango music. In
recent years, urban renewal has transformed the area, with the establishment
of the Distrito Tecnológico attracting tech companies and boosting economic
development. The neighborhood offers several parks, schools, and healthcare
facilities. It also serves as the headquarters of the Buenos Aires City Government.
Well-connected by public transport, Parque Patricios blends history, culture, and
modern growth
