About the local hosting organization

Our partner, a youth-led organization based in Tanzania, is dedicated to environmental conservation, sustainability, and youth empowerment. One of their programs, Community and Voluntary Service (CVS-Najitolea), engages youth and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, fostering community service and shared living experiences. This program connects individuals worldwide with local projects and communities in Tanzania, emphasizing the vital role volunteers play in development and building a more just and sustainable society. Currently, they are seeking a Voluntary Service Management Assistant to support the program in recruitment, placements, and management of voluntary service initiatives. Through collaborative efforts like these, our partner continues to inspire and mobilize youth towards positive change in their communities and beyond.

Presentation of the program

Assist and working together with CVS-Najitolea team to:

  • prepare accurate project descriptions and information sheets;
  • prepare volunteers' training, orientation, midterm and final evaluations;
  • prepare Project leaders' training;
  • conduct regular Volunteer Information sessions;
  • recruit local and international volunteers needed;
  • search for new local, regional and International partners in community projects, Volunteer exchange and fundraising;
  • generate regular updates (at least weekly) for our partner's social media team, including short stories and accompanying photographs;
  • participate in International work camps as co-leader;
  • support networking activities of Eastern African voluntary service (EAVS-Network) in communication, meetings and other networking activities.

About the accommodation

Accommodation will be at the host families in the eco-village. Basic accommodation facilities like water, electricity and toilets will be available. Volunteers should anticipate to share a room with other volunteers or family members of the same gender.  It's expected that volunteers integrate fully into the family dynamic, participating in household chores and engaging in social activities alongside family members rather than merely being guests.

About the food

Food will be provided by the host family. Volunteers with special dietary requirements are encouraged to inform our partner in advance.

About the location

Chamazi is an urban multicultural community located about 25km from Julius Nyerere International airport, Dar es Salaam and about the same distance from Dar es Salaam city Centre. A good number of social services are available including mobile phone signals, Police station, financial and shopping centers, etc. All this makes this community attractive and accessible for people to live, work and visit. The community is accessible through public and private transport systems.

About the leisure

Location of Chamazi community provides access to many leisure activities. There is a sports complex, clubs and entertainment centers nearby. Been in this community you have also access to City tour, visiting museums and historical site, a day tour to Bongoyo Island, Swimming and water related relaxation in Bagamoyo or Zanzibar.

  • Passion for International voluntary service development o Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Once a volunteer is accepted, an official invitation letter from our partner will be issued. Take enough time to apply the since visa or work permit/resident permits application process can take long.

Resident and work permits are mandatory for project lasting from 91 days.
