À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local

Sant Lluís Town Hall, through its youth service in Molí de Baix, offers its services since 1997 as a youth center. Since 2005 it widened its target population to not only youth but also children and families. Sant Lluís is a little town in the south-east of Menorca (on the balearic islands, on the mediterranian sea) From a pedagogic standpoint, Molí de Baix promotes services, programs and activities that encourage active and dinamic participation, through an inclusive, egalitarian, free and respectful perspective. Aiming to contribute to the development of social habits as autonomous and critical-thinking beings. Through an experience based plan, contributing to an integral kind of development, gaining skills and abilities in a fun, recreational manner, to ease participants the transtion into the different stages of their vital development. A diversity of throughlines are designed from a social and educational project, to educate children and youngsters for a new sense of global ethics, aiming towards social and plural cohesion we live in nowadays. The current team includes 6 people to carry out every task: a coordinator, two directors of activities, two youth leaders, and one social youth leader.

Présentation du programme

As a host entity we offer the “English for Kids” project. The volunteer will participate in different tasks carried out in the English ludoteca, as well as in other non-formal education programs for childhood and youth. The English ludoteca offers participants between 3 and 16 years old the opportunity to familiarize themselves with English in a relaxed, friendly and understanding environment. Some of the activities carried out are comprehension games, arts and crafts, active games, songs, dances, role-playing, theater activity and board games among others. We also have Christmas and Easter workshops, in which activities are carried out in the morning during the days children have no school, weekend activities, a children's Halloween celebration and summer school among others. This particular project is attached to a certain ammount of working hours per week (35 hours max.)

À propos de l'hébergement

There's going to be 4 volunteers in total, living together in the same flat in the center of the village, just 2 minutes walking from the organisation. The flat is fully paid by the organisation and you will have an allowance set by country, with money for living expenses, shopping and pocket money for you. You will also get a transport card to be able to travel by bus to other towns around the island. Volunteers should understand that they will be sharing a same roof with volunteers from other countries, with other culture and other customs.

You will be explained what sort of activities we carry out during the year, and will get the opportunity to bring your ideas and implement them with the support of the team. You will take Spanish lessons weekly. You will also participate in the on-arrival training for a week during the first month of your volunteering activity. It's a great opportunity to share experiences and get more of a European dimension through contact with other volunteers. Then, half-way through your volunteering there's the mid-term training for another week of networking.

Exigences

The Participant profile: We are looking for two volunteers for this project to complement eachother and work as a duo. We are looking for - a creative profile so someone who enjoys arts and crafts, who has imagination and is able to create things using basic materials. Alot of what we do is based on recycling. - someone who enjoys being with children, with a playful and open attitude. - English knowledge is an essential aspect as the activities will be led in this language - team players as you will collaborate with another volunteer and teh rest of the amazing Moli de Baix team.

The project is implemented under the European Solidarity Corps Programme, financed by the European Commission.
