À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local

The Bureau Information Jeunesse (BIJ), located in Brest, France, is a not-for-profit organization created in 1993. The BIJ of Brest is a youth information center which is a part of a network of 1500 info spot throughout France. The BIJ is running by a team of 6 professionals which involves a general manager, an account and administration assistant, an international mobility project manager, 2 project officers and a numeric project leader. Its main goals is inform and support youngsters between 16 and 35 and caters to the needs of young people on subjects such as education, vocational training, jobs, employment, cultural offering or sporting events. But also on issues like housing and health or even individual rights or international mobility (jobs, volunteering, education, training placement, etc.). For that it has a documentation section with a free access to Internet where the welcoming is free, anonymous and adapted to the demand. Besides, the BIJ has a website www.bij-brest.org and social networks which provides young people with a tremendous quantity of daily updated practical and useful information. Apart from that, the BIJ yearly publishes a guide books “Jeunes à Brest” (Youngsters in Brest) and is also involved into the organization of several events such as : - The summer jobs days - the Youth International days The Bij is member of different networks: youth information network, Eurodesk, IDEO (network dedicated to vocational training), Erasmus + developers, etc.

Présentation du programme

The Dupuy de Lôme high school is a general, technological and professional high school with around 950 pupils. The volunteer will be supported by the senior school administrator. The roles of volunteer in Dupuy de Lôme: ️Organising and leading an English club or in hisher mother tongue, depending on the nationality) ️Communicate on Instagram to promot projects or events set up/offer by the high school ️Create posters to promote events/projects ️Newsletter collect information on events/projects and incoporrate it in the high scool newsletter ️Attend to school trips (theater, etc.) ️Set up your own project(s) ️Organise activities at the boarding school (movie night, yoga session, etc.) ️Etc. ️An ESC volunteer is not teacher, he·she can lead workshops/presentations in classes but only from time to time. It musn’t be his·her main task.

À propos de l'hébergement

The volunteer will be accommodated in furnished shared-flatwith language assistants and/or with people from the staff, on the high school site. Each one will get his/her own bedroom and will share kitchen and bathroom with the others. A tramway station is in front of the high school and it allows to reach the city centre in 10/15 minutes (it’s 25 minutes walking). The volunteer will receive 240 € per month to prepare her·his own meals and he·she will get a monthly subscription, for free, to the bus and tramway network. He·she will also receive 240 € in pocket money.

Exigences

The Participant profile: We are looking for 1 volunteer from European Union countries, from 18' up to 30'. Basic skills in French as well as basic IT competencies are requested. Students could have a very bad level in English, that's why it's important to be able to communicate with them in French and to go out your comfort zone to create a link with them. Candidates should have: ️ a good contact with youngsters ️ team work ability ️ the willingness to set up and lead activities and to be actively involved in the activities ️a strong motivation ️ the ability to take initiatives Besides volunteers must respect the following rules: ️Be on time ️Respect the schedule ️Warn if he·she is exceptionnally late ️Always provide a medical certificate in case of absence (It serves as proof that he·she is actually unfit for work) ️Take good care of the flat ️Candidates must send their application (CV + motivation letter) to: Agnès Pissavy, ESC coordinator, [email protected] Please write down the project title in your email object (we have been recruiting for 2 different projects).
