À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local
Don Bosco Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1978 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, as an initiative of the Salesians and it is composed of two basic areas, the "Escuela de Tiempo Libre y Animación Sociocultural Don Bosco"(leisure time school) and the "Centro Juvenil Don Bosco" (youth assosiation).
The leisure time school is related to training activities in the social area and leisure time activities. We organize official courses of animator or director of leisure and free time, director of voluntary camps, monographs, or leisure time activities for young people and adults. The School also has a youth information office operating since 2000, offering information and assistance to volunteers from European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+ and local volunteering.
The Don Bosco youth assosiation offers a many activities that aim to educate children and young people in human values during their leisure time. In the center there is a youth library, a recreational space, a school support program. It also has football (CD Belvís) and basketball(CD Bosco) teams, scout group (Khanhiwara), urban camps to support family conciliation during the school vacations time, and other recreational activities for children, youth and adults.
Since april 2018 it host "Plataforma de Organizacións de Infancia de Galicia" (Children Organisations Platform).
Présentation du programme
Our center offers activities to help families reconcile their work and family life. We offer activities for children and young people after school time and during vacation times (summer, Christmas, Easter, carnivals). During school period, we can highlight a playful space, in which the game is used as an element educator, study support classrooms, which aims to reinforce the concepts learned in school and promote habits independent study among children and teenagers, in addition to other leisure and free time activities. On vacation time the urban camp activities are the focus of our work. The participation of young Europeans motivated to transform society and encouraged to collaborate in an altruistic in the indicated tasks will help the organisation to develop higher quality activities and therefore both the local community and theis users will be rewarded and benefited. À propos de l'hébergement
The volunteer will live in a flat, sharing it with other volunteers, in a single or double room. Furthermore the flat provides all items necessary for living: a washing machine, heater, blankets, iron, dishes, internet, etc. The organisation will cover the expenses of the flat (rent, supplies,…) The volunteers will receive a monthly allowance and pocket money (at the beginning of each month) to manage their meals. Local transport will be not needed because the accomodation is few meters close to the organisation.
À propos des loisirs
The volunteer will participate in the same activities as the rest of the local volunteers and staff members, and will participate in the same training activities. The volunteer also will participate in the ESC learning process, so he/she will attend to the pre-departure training and on-arrival training. The participant will have Spanish lessons according to his/her level and also he/she will be registered in the EU Academy platform and use the Online Linguistic Support tool.
Exigences
The Participant profile: We are looking for young volunteers with interest and motivation in cultural activities and leasure time with children and teenagers. We are looking for youngsters with capabilities of comunication, social skills, enthusiasts, creatives, with initiative and values and ideals about solidarity and europena identity. We value highly the desire and the motivation to participate in this experience. It includes questions for your supporting organisation in your country of origin.

The participating organisations have to be mindful of these needs as they are responsible for providing a respectful and trusting hosting environment. At the same time, the organisations participating in the initiative devote a great deal of time, energy and resources to set up a high-quality activity; they should therefore expect that European Solidarity Corps participants show a similar level of respect for the local communities and the people that are directly concerned by the activities (https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/mission_en).
