À propos de l'organisme d'accueil local
Grenoble is home to 150,000 people and is the centre of a metropolitan area of 700,000 people. There are 50 different nationalities and the largest anglo-saxon community in France. Grenoble is nestled in the heart of the Alps, surrounded by mountains and is known as the "Capital of the Alps" and was made famous for hosting the 1968 Winter Olympic Games. A Via Ferrata starts in the city and the nearest ski resorts are about 45 minutes away by car. Grenoble is also famous for its international standing in terms of science and business with 25,000 people employed in research. 5th most inventive city in the world (Forbes magazine 2013). Grenoble is home to a number of universities, research institutes and large international industrial groups (ST Microelectronics, Schneider Electric…). Grenoble campus hosts 65,000 students, 15 % of whom are foreigners
The best French city to study in (« Etudiant » magazine 2013) Grenoble is a pioneer in the field of sustainable construction.
In 2009 “De Bonne” project obtained the “Prix National Ecoquartier”. A district which is self-sufficient in terms of energy. In 2014, Grenoble launched its fifth tramway line. The natural environment and economic dynamism make Grenoble a very pleasant city to live in and that's also why Grenoble is applying for the 2022 European Green Capital Award this year.
The public facility "Maison de l'International" , where the volunteer will be welcomed, belongs to the City of Grenoble and is part of its international department. Its main objectif is to foster international relationships on Grenoble territory and to allow more visibility for all International and European stakeholders (from the city, but also and mostly from all associations and other public bodies).
The target groups are:
* foreigners arriving in Grenoble and who want information for their installation; people who want to go abroad (not for travelling) and who are seeking information on languages lessons, jobs, administratif conditions in specific countries and so on; people who want to attend our conferences or other international events organised at the Maison de L'international; International and European association organising an event/conference/meeting.
* The Maison de l'International's team aslo works on International and European projects involving specific target groups such as young people, social and economical disadvantaged urban districts, migrants, elderly people.
Présentation du programme
Grenoble is a city that host 50 different nationalities. Grenoble is nestled in the heart of the Alps, surrounded by mountains and is known as the "Capital of the Alps".
ESC task will be:
1- Social and hosting activities:
- to host and give information to our public about events that we or the city organise on International matters;
- to help the Europe Direct Info center to put European information on our social networks
- to co-host our “International Thursdays” where you’ll be part of an open infopoint on the EU
2- Event activities:
- to organise events on Europe like European Months, Erasmus Days, etc.;
- to prepare school or awareness-raising activities;
- to participate in events organised by the city like “L’été oh parc”;
3- Personal project:
-to discover about other city departments (sustainable development, etc.);
-to bring their vision of the life of the department and its facilities;
-to propose events or projects linked to their own areas of interest.
À propos de l'hébergement
About the accommodation, the volunteer will live in a KAPS (Flat sharing with solidarity projects). They will have a single room and share the common rooms with French students, workers, or volunteers 18-30. About the food, the volunteer will receive 240€ per month (8€ per day). They can receive this allowance weekly or monthly. About the local transport, the volunteer will have the choice between a bike or a transport card.
À propos des loisirs
The AAAMI organisation (supporting organisation) will deal with the logistical aspect as well as the training. As soon as the volunteer arrives they will get a training (1 day) to get to know each other, know more about France and French culture, have clear information and schedule of the activities, meet the tutors and have all necessary info about the cities, emergency contacts, etc. Each volunteer will also participate to a National Agency's training (on-arrival and mid-term training) organized by professional trainers in the South of France, and one or two internal seminars.
Exigences
The Participant profile: We do not do a selection on any qualifications. The most important to us is the motivation, the will to be in contact and work with international matters and be in contact with people to give information, advice, organise European exhibitions, workshops with kids and teenagers about European issues. We would like to host someone that wants to meet French culture but is also willing to share her/his own culture as well. To be interested in various subjects like sustainable development, mobility etc…
To speak a little bit of French is unfortunately necessary to be accepted on this project.
