The French Red Cross acts unconditionally to protect and support people in vulnerable situations, helping them rebuild and strengthen their resilience. In Grenoble, you will take part in welcoming people during the day by helping run a day shelter, and you will mainly support our food and clothing distribution activities. You will also contribute to our outreach efforts, including mobile support operations and street outreach (maraudes). If your French level allows, we can offer you a training pathway to become a first aid instructor (PSC – Premiers Secours Citoyen), and you will have the opportunity to lead training sessions as part of your mission.
À propos de l'hébergement
The volunteer will have its own individual apartment with a small kitchen and bathroom rented by the French Red Cross of Grenoble. He/She will receive pocket money and money to buy food. He/she will by provided with a public transportation card.
À propos des loisirs
The Red Cross offers training to all of its interveners in connection with their missions. For this opportunity, the envisaged trainings are:
-First Aid (PSC) + First Aid Trainer
-Solidarity Actor Posture (TCAS),
-Psychological First Aid,
-Training on internal tools (stock management software)
-Food Hygiene and Safety training.
- An individual coaching depending on the profil of the volunteer
Exigences
The Participant profile: Strong desire to support people in vulnerable situations. Motivation to engage in solidarity actions and promote humanitarian values. Interest in learning from and contributing to a multicultural environment. Comfortable working with people from diverse and sometimes difficult backgrounds (e.g. homelessness, migration). Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team. If interested in training, a willingness to speak in public and lead workshops is a plus. Basic French is highly recommended for communication with beneficiaries and team members. The volunteer will be supported in improving their French, but some initial understanding will help integration and daily tasks.
